Dead by Daylight continues to be the king of the asymmetrical horror genre, and as the game evolves further, developer Behaviour Interactive has found fresh ways to engage players. One of the biggest draws of Dead by Daylight is its extensive list of crossovers. Whether it's a crossover with a beloved horror movie franchise like Alien or a major TV series like the recent Walking Dead collaboration, Dead by Daylight is showing no signs of slowing down on its post-launch content.

Beyond the game, though, Dead by Daylight has found interesting ways to get its community involved. Surveys have been a common way for Behaviour Interactive to get players' feedback, but a new twist on player-focused voting has been incredibly intriguing. The Grimoire is a newly introduced voting system that aims to give the community a greater say, as each vote helps shape the next chapter of the game. Dead by Daylight's crossovers are great, but having the opportunity to help influence the game's next original idea is a thrilling concept.

Dead by Daylight's Grimoire Puts the Fate of the Game's Next Chapter in the Community's Hands

How Does the Grimoire Work?

  • Every two weeks, the Grimoire will open, allowing players a short window of time to vote on the next stage, or Verse.

The Grimoire can be found on the official Dead by Daylight website, and once it's opened, players will have three days to cast their votes. These votes help shape the next Killer and Survivor. The Grimoire itself is presented like a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired choose your own adventure scenario, where each Verse offers a bit of backstory, followed by a variety of options for players to vote for. Dead by Daylight has had an impressive run since launching back in 2016, and features like the Grimoire have continued to add an extra layer to the experience.

Some voting options will feature choices for the runner-up, allowing the community the chance to change their vote going forward.

The results have yet to be tallied for Verse 2, but voting has officially been closed. Once Verse 3 is announced, players will get an even deeper sneak peek into what horrors Dead by Daylight is planning for the future. So far this year, Dead by Daylight has offered plenty of strong content, and the promise of a fresh, original Killer and Survivor could bring forth an even bigger shake-up to the horror title.

With leaks suggesting more Resident Evil content and the recent Five Nights at Freddy's crossover, Dead by Daylight might be gearing up to have one of its best years yet. Adding a brand-new community-voted Killer and Survivor into the mix has the potential to be one of the game's biggest reveals, so far.

Once Verse 3 is announced, players will get an even deeper sneak peek into what horrors Dead by Daylight is planning for the future.

The Wait for Verse 3 of the Grimoire Starts Now

  • Voting for Verse 2 ended earlier today.
  • Based on trends, Verse 3 voting should open on July 25 and close on July 28.

As these next two weeks pass by, speculating about what awaits players next is inevitable. With each Verse, more questions arise, as every prompt has been teasing Killer and Survivor scenarios that are all intriguing in their own right.

Next year will be Dead by Daylight's 10-year anniversary, marking a major milestone for the asymmetrical horror title. As Dead by Daylight continues to embrace the ever-evolving horror genre, each new crossover and original characters will hopefully keep the game's momentum going for years to come.
