It’s official, Springtrap, the villainous animatronic from the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, has made its debut in the asymmetrical horror Dead by Daylight, where players can now control “The Yellow Rabbit” as a playable killer. Dead by Daylight first hit the gaming scene back in 2016, boasting thrilling multiplayer action in one-versus-four matches, where someone takes on the role of an iconic killer from the growing horror genre to hunt the remaining survivors.

Developer Behaviour Interactive announced that Dead by Daylight was collaborating with the Five Nights at Freddy’s series back in May, alongside news of another union with CD Projekt’s The Witcher game series. Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy’s began as a simple survival horror game, where players had to last the night working as a security guard in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant dotted with killer animatronics, and the concept has now encompassed a slew of video game sequels, novels, and movie adaptations.

Dead by Daylight Reveals More Springtrap Details

Dead by Daylight reveals more information about Springtrap, an upcoming Killer for the anticipated Five Nights at Freddy's crossover.

Posted on Twitter under the official Dead by Daylight account, Behaviour confirmed Springtrap was now available to control as a playable killer within the anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter. Flaunting the ability to launch projectiles and fleshed out with intriguing lore, “The Animatronic” will surely give killers an entertaining hunt, and there’s also the Stack of Pizzas badge and Vent Crawl banner to check out in the new chapter as well. Springtrap’s Dead by Daylight variant boasts several perks and add-ons to use to the killer’s advantage, including the character’s unique Phantom Fear perk, and fans have nothing but praise for the addition so far.

Dead by Daylight Adds Five Nights at Freddy's Springtrap as a Playable Killer

The Animatronic’s Fazbear's Fright special power in Dead by Daylight is bound to be a big hit with fans of both games, and players are hoping the queue times aren’t too long because of the new chapter’s popularity. Twitter users shared a lot of praise for the FNAF chapter’s trailers and jumped on the trend of calling Springtrap’s addition “absolute cinema.”

Adding to the Five Nights at Freddy’s excitement, a Dead by Daylight leak has teased another crossover with the Resident Evil franchise. Advised to be taken with a pinch of salt, the collaboration will reportedly feature Resident Evil 7 and 8 in the November licensed chapter, and feature Jack Baker as the killer, with Ethan and Rosemary Winters playing the survivors. It’s clear now is a great time to be both a horror fan and a gamer, and DbD’s crossovers continue to be its strong suit.
