Summary

  • Freddy Krueger was Dead by Daylight’s deadliest killer from January to March 2025, boasting a 69% kill rate.
  • Other killers with high kill rates during this period included The Lich, The Twins, The Blight, and The Nurse.
  • Escape rates ranged from 41% to 48%, and despite his dominance, Freddy didn’t make it into the top 10 most-picked killers.

Behaviour Interactive has revealed that The Nightmare (Freddy Krueger) was Dead by Daylight’s deadliest killer according to stats from the first three months of 2025. Behaviour also shared data regarding Dead by Daylight’s character pick rates and escape rates during that period, while also letting players know that new data will be released again in July.

Dead by Daylight is a popular asynchronous game that pits players against each other, where one has to be the killer and the rest the survivors. The killer’s goal is to capture—and kill—the survivors, while the others have to find a way to escape alive. Dead by Daylight features a wealth of different killers inspired by various kinds of media, ranging from movies and shows to anime and more, always from some kind of horror or suspense story. The game’s eerie atmosphere has welcomed killers like The Demogorgon, Albert Wesker, Pinhead, and Freddy Krueger, among others. Now, developer Behaviour has brought some interesting stats for players.

Dead by Daylight Releases New Update for April 2025

Dead by Daylight releases a third update for April 2025, making some balancing changes to The Ghoul and Blood Moon Event fixes.

Following Dead by Daylight’s change to The Nightmare, Behaviour has revealed that Freddy Krueger was the deadliest killer from January to March 2025, with a striking kill rate—across both MMR brackets—of 69%. Killers like The Lich, The Twins, The Blight, and The Nurse also ranked high, with The Lich appearing in both brackets, much like The Nightmare. Interestingly enough, despite his dominance as a killer during the past three months, Freddy was not players’ main choice and didn’t make it into the pick rates’ top 10, where The Mastermind and The Blight secured the first spots.

Freddy Krueger Had a 69% Kill Rate in Dead by Daylight from January to March 2025

In addition to killers’ stats, Behaviour also offered a look at how Dead by Daylight’s survivors performed from January to March. As shown in the data, escape rates were close across MMR brackets, with a 41% escape rate for all MMR and 42% for high MMR, though when it comes to groups, the escape rates climbed to 48% for high MMR.

Freddy leading the deadliest killer list proves that the rework made him a real nightmare in Dead by Daylight. At first, the killer was considered somewhat weak, and most of his abilities didn’t really present a challenge for survivors. Because of this situation, Behaviour decided to introduce changes to the killer, with the most important one being the ability to swap freely between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets, which basically improved his mobility—though he received several more changes. Even though the developer may introduce balance adjustments in a future patch, for now, Freddy looks like a very good choice.
