Dead by Daylight continues to amaze players with its new chapters. The ever-expanding roster saw a recent addition that introduced Resident Evil characters Rebecca Chambers and Ada Wong as survivors. The franchise's cheesiest villain, Albert Wesker, also makes his debut as the chapter's mobility-based killer, The Mastermind.

Each new character comes with three new perks and an 'adept' trophy/achievement. To unlock their character's adept achievement, survivors simply need to escape a trial while only using their character's three unique perks. This guide will help players understand Rebecca Chambers' unique perks, the situations in which they're best used, and how to maximize their chances of survival and escape.

What players are allowed to bring (and what they aren't)

Adept trophies/achievements aren't anything new for Dead by Daylight. For those who are new to unlocking them, however, they can at first seem a little daunting. Rest assured, though, survivors have a few tricks up their sleeves that can make unlocking the adept achievements much easier.

What's allowed:

Item Types

What do they do?

Medkit

  • Allows players to heal themselves
  • Increases healing speed

Key

  • (Purple quality or better) Unlocks the hatch
  • Tracks certain auras when combined with certain add-ons

Toolbox

  • Allows players to sabotage hooks to temporarily break them
  • Increases generator repair speed

Flashlight

  • Allows players to temporarily blind the killer
  • If the killer is carrying a survivor when blinded, they drop the survivor
  • Uncloaks the Wraith
  • Breaks the Hag's traps
  • Instantly fatigues the Nurse

Map

  • Reveals auras of generators
  • (Pink rarity only) Reveals aura of the hatch and exit gate levers

The items above all increase players' chances of survival in different ways. Medkits, specifically, are recommended as they'll allow survivors to be more independent by healing themselves, which may prove useful if one's fellow survivors are being too altruistic to work on generators.

All it em add-ons are also allowed, so bringing add-ons is highly recommended, as they increase a given item's effectiveness.

That's not all!

  • Bring friends - The game's 'Survive with Friends' feature lets players squad up with friends that can tell them what the killer is doing, and won't void this achievement.
  • Upgrading perks is allowed and encouraged - it'll require a lot of blood points, but greatly increases the perks' usefulness.
  • If players consider themselves to be an expert at escaping on certain maps, stack the odds in their favor and bring an item that increases their chance of going to them.

What's NOT allowed?

Compared to what players are allowed to bring, the off-limits list is actually quite small.

  • Non-unique perks: no matter how much players may want to bring Circle of Healing and other meta perks, only Rebecca's three unique perks are allowed.
  • A fourth perk: in the same vein, players are only allowed to use Rebecca's three unique perks - even with all three of them equipped, they can't bring a fourth.

What are Rebecca's perks?

Other than her unshakable optimism and a meme-worthy 'thumbs up' before every match, Rebecca brings three new perks to the game.

Better than New

rebecca nurse in resident evil

What does it do?

After healing a fellow Survivor, they receive a speed boost to Healing, Unlocking exit gates, Cleansing, and Blessing totems. This boost begins at 12%, increases to 14% at tier 2, and caps out at 16% at tier 3. This bonus is lost when they are injured again, however.

What's it good for?

Speed, of course! If players are always helping their fellow survivors, their teammates will be able to return the favor by helping them to escape more quickly.

What's it not so good for?

Against killers that are constantly applying damage, like The Legion and The Plague, Better than New won't be much use. This perk also encourages Rebecca players to take hits for their fellow survivors, which may get them killed more often than not.

Reassurance

Dead by Daylight - Wesker Camping Hook

What does it do?

When within six meters of a hooked survivor, players can press a button to completely halt their sacrifice bar from decreasing. This halt begins at 20 seconds, increases to 25 at tier 2, and caps out at 30 seconds at tier 3. This can only be used once per hook state but can be used multiple times on one survivor.

What's it good for?

Reassurance is fantastic at countering 'camping', a frustrating strategy that some Killers employ to keep one survivor on the hook until they die. While facing off against a camping killer can be aggravating, Reassurance ensures the team can continue working on generators, wasting the Killer's time.

What's it not so good for?

There aren't many obvious downsides to this perk. Keeping fellow survivors alive is always worth the trouble, and with the perk able to be used on multi-leveled maps without being seen by the killer, it's definitely a perk worth bringing. The only possible downside is teammates using the perk to be toxic, but so long as players are good to their fellow survivors, they should be good in return.

Hyperfocus

Dead by Daylight - Chambers Repairing Generator

What does it do?

When repairing a generator or healing a survivor, hitting a great skill check gives one token, up to a maximum of six. When a token is earned, the following effects activate:

  • Skill checks are 4% more likely to appear.
  • Skill checks move 4% faster.
  • At tier 1, skill checks give 10% bonus progression. At tier 2, they give 20%, and at tier 3 they give 30%
  • Each token stacks - basically, six tokens would turn those 4%s into 24%s, and bonus progression would see a big boost, too.

It's worth noting, though, that the tokens are lost when the skill check is failed, only 'good', or when the action is interrupted.

What's it good for?

For those who are great at hitting great skill checks, Hyperfocus is simply the best generator-repairing perk in the game. The boosts, frequency of skill checks, and synergy with toolboxes make it a force to be reckoned with.

What's it not so good for?

For newer players or those who just aren't very good at hitting great skill checks, this perk can feel like a waste - the increased speed of the skill checks can also make it easier to fail them, alerting the killer to the survivor's location - and while the perk works very well with others, using it on its own while going for the Adept Rebecca achievement may not provide much use.

Escaping as Rebecca Chambers

With all of that perk knowledge in mind, players are almost ready to head into the trials. They'll just need to remember these key steps, and they'll escape from the fog in no time.

  • Bring items that improve abilities - toolboxes, medkits, flashlights, etc.
  • Bring add-ons for those items to make them more effective
  • Play with friends if possible - survivors can work together to secure a clean getaway.
  • Bring an offering that makes life easier - a certain map can make all the difference.
  • If everyone is dead, don't give up hope - an escape through the hatch will still unlock this achievement, and some killers may let survivors go if they're feeling generous.

Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
