The expansive cast of killers in Dead by Daylight has been empowered by the Entity, the game's central evil deity, with new abilities that allow them to track and sacrifice survivors more effectively. Now, in Dead by Daylight's new 2v8 mode, the five available killers have been granted further powers. It seems that the Entity was feeling particularly cruel, as these new abilities are quite powerful and are focused on working together, boosting their own strengths, and sharing those strengths with their teammates.
Dead by Daylight's 2v8 mode will have a limited launch from July 25, 2024, to August 8, 2024, and will hopefully make a permanent return at a later date. During this initial trial period, five killers will be available for players to choose from: the Hillbilly, the Huntress, the Nurse, the Trapper, and the Wraith. Each of these five killers has been given new Team Powers that they will only be able to access while in 2v8 mode.

Each one of Dead by Daylight's Survivors has unique Perks that give them an edge against the Killers, but some are better than others.
Huntress, Wraith, And Hillbilly Help Their Teammates Make Kills
The Wraith is the killer most able to benefit his teammates in 2v8 mode directly. He can grant his signature ability if his fellow killer is nearby, allowing both to temporarily become undetectable by survivors. This will especially be beneficial as the five maps initially available in 2v8 mode, which include classic battlegrounds like Mother's Dwelling, the Disturbed Ward, and Azarov's Resting Place, have been increased in size to accommodate the larger teams.
This gives survivors more places to run and hide, making it extremely important that killers be able to move around the map without detection.
On the other hand, the Huntress and the Hillbilly will now be able to set up kills either for themselves or their partner. The Huntress temporarily reveals the aura of survivors with every hatchet hit she makes, while the Hillbilly exposes survivors whenever he uses his chainsaw sprint move. Together, they would make a potentially deadly combination that would make it near-impossible for even the stealthiest survivors to stay off the killers' radars for very long.
Nurse And Trapper Strengthen Themselves
While the Nurse and the Trapper's abilities primarily benefit themselves, they will also be extremely useful in a teamwork situation. The Nurse is granted an extra Blink—her signature teleportation move—when she is near her teammate. This gives the Nurse unprecedented mobility that will pair well with the expanded map size.
The Trapper is given access to a larger number of traps—he starts with four, with an additional eight available on the map for him to pick up and use. He also gets a speed boost whenever he sets a trap, allowing him to quickly litter the map with dangerous traps that can slow down speedy survivors.
While only five killers will be available during the initial trial period of Dead by Daylight's 2v8 mode, Behaviour Interactive expressed interest in adding more killers to the mode in future updates. In particular, Dead by Daylight design director Matt Spriggens mentioned that he'd love to see the Spirit or the Clown, two original killers added to the game in 2018.
Both would be fascinating candidates for 2v8 as the Clown focuses on slowing the survivors' progress and preventing loops while the Spirit is another mobile killer who can temporarily become invisible—an extreme danger when paired with Team Powers like the Wraith's or Huntress's. Players will be able to submit feedback during the 2v8 trial period and may get the chance to suggest which killers they would like to see in the future, as well as which new Team Powers those killers should have.
