Warner Bros. Has released a new teaser trailer for this year's upcoming DC FanDome event. The live event is an annual celebration and preview for all things DC Comics that gives fans an exclusive look at all the new and upcoming DC films, TV shows, and video games, as well as new titles from DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation. The latest teaser for the virtual convention includes glimpses at Peacemaker and The Batman.
The new one-minute promo features previews for several upcoming DC projects from the CW's Arrowverse and HBO Max, including the original series Peacemaker and the upcoming DCEU film Black Adam starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The promo also features celebrity cameos from actors such as Ezra Miller, Robert Pattinson, John Cena, Zoe Kravitz, Pierce Brosnan, and many more. The promo ends with the reveal that fans who tune into the live event will be the first to see the new trailer for the upcoming Matt Reeves film The Batman, which stars Pattinson as the DC comics hero.
The first DC FanDome event was held last year in response to the cancellation of San Diego Comic-Con due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The live event was entirely virtual and gave fans their first look at films like The Batman and video games like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The event featured panels and celebrity guests, including Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins and lead actress Gal Gadot. The first day of the event was titled DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes and was held on August 22, 2020. The 24-hour live event was reportedly viewed by 22 million people in 220 countries. It was followed up by the second day of the event, titled DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse, which was held on September 12, 2020.
DC and Warner Bros. Have been in a strange place in the last few years. Their attempt to create an MCU-style movie universe was largely muddled by creative differences and behind-the-scenes drama, as Ben Affleck recently recounted. Hopefully, this year's event will give fans an idea of what the future of DC entertainment looks like. So far, it seems like DC and Warner Bos. Are essentially throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. However, this strategy might be in their favor, as it will allow them to create more unique content that stands out from other comic book franchises.
Peacemaker will star John Cena as the freedom-loving yet homicidal anti-hero from The Suicide Squad. Meanwhile, The Batman is still shrouded in mystery, but fans do know that it will feature a game of cat-and-mouse between the Caped Crusader and the Riddler.
You can watch this year's DC FanDome live on October 16th, 2021 via the FanDome website as well as Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
