The president's daughter has been kidnapped, and Leon has followed eyewitness reports to a cold village in Europe. In that village, a new intrigue awaits...

Probably my #1 game of all time. Leon is an excellent hero, and I loved the humour (especially the banter between him and Salazar). It was the first RE game I ever finished, and I loved the introduction to the third-person gameplay. The Merchant is my favourite addition to the series; the upgrades were so fun to get, and he has so many iconic lines. Though overall not the scariest game ever, it has some sections that were genuinely terrifying.

Despite its even more refined and epic remake in recent years, the original Resident Evil 4 still holds up with its sleek visuals, dynamic Spanish settings - along with a superb blend of action, survival-horror, and clever (but not bloated) puzzles to solve. Oh, and of course, the crazed cultist version of zombies, the "Los Illuminados", are as chilling as a group of foes can be. This is especially the case when tangling with the super intimidating Chainsaw Man, and the slew of intense bosses.

Regretfully, I traded a bunch of old games to GameStop to buy this game back in 2005. While I wish I didn't do that, RE4 at least became one of my all-time favorites.

An action-packed classic that redefined survival horror and influenced so many games after it. The pacing and set pieces are brilliant, though some mechanics show their age. It’s still an iconic experience worth revisiting.
