For many, myself included, this first iteration of a revamped, polished Resident Evil was their first experience with the series - and what a chilling experience it was! This dark, heart-pounding horror keeps you on the edge of your seat with numerous jump scares, brain-hungry zombies creeping about, and the new terrifying "Crimson Heads", which are essentially swift undead on steroids - think Left 4 Dead.

The developers took the original and turned it into something much scarier and more atmospheric, with updated graphics, better voice acting, and refined mechanics. The mansion felt even more haunting, and the newly added details, like the redesigned zombies and the more intricate puzzles, kept me constantly engaged. The tension was amped up with limited resources and the horrifying feeling that something was always lurking just out of sight. While I missed the cheesy charm of the original's voice acting, this remake is a solid update that really nails the survival horror experience. It’s still a bit of a slow burn, but that’s what makes it so unforgettable.
