Lord of Vermilion IV has an all-new setting and worldview, from a traditional dark fantasy world to modern Japan.

Beautiful cards created by the series' gorgeous illustrators have been retained, and new rarity cards have been added. The game system has also been revamped to be simpler and deeper, and two-player co-operative 'Tag Matching' has been fully implemented in nationwide battles. Eight-player battles add new elements and take players to the next stage.
