Detroit: Become Human

A genuine masterpiece. It's amazing how more games have not been able to replicate the variety of choices and severity of outcomes that Detroit: Become Human offers. The game was way ahead of its time and is truly one of the best in its genre.

Sometimes, a character in a game sticks with you for long after the game is over, and for me, that was Connor. Bryan Dechart did an incredible job in his role, along with Clancy Brown as Hank and all the other actors in this incredible game. While there isn't much to its gameplay outside of making choices and quick-time events, it still managed to keep my attention for its entire runtime. I also enjoyed how, at the end of each chapter, it would show a flowchart of all available choices, making it easier to discover every possible ending. If you're a fan of cinematic titles with less of an emphasis on combat, this is a great one to pick up.

'Detroit: Become Human' puts a very interesting and increasingly relevant dilemma before us: If your fancy AI-enabled fridge was to advance to a point where it could autonomously mimic human feelings, would it have a right to be considered human? Well, David Cage's branching-narrative game doesn't ask that question word-for-word, but the main idea I believe is quite close. 'Detroit: Become Human' portrays a future where androids/humanoid robots stray off their software program and, well, become human (almost?). From the very emotional intertwining stories of our three protagonists to the QTE-enabled gameplay mechanics that let players decide how the story plays out at each crucial and non-crucial turn, this third-person interactive movie game is possibly the best one from Quantic Dream so far. For me, it evoked feelings that I didn't know video games could evoke and raised the bar for the medium, especially in terms of storytelling.

Detroit: Become Human is the kind of game that sticks with you long after you’ve finished it. The choices feel meaningful, and the branching storylines really make you question what it means to be human. The performances are top-tier, and the visuals are gorgeous. The pacing can be a little slow at times, but the thought-provoking themes and emotional weight of the narrative keep you hooked. It’s an experience, not just a game.

It's one of those games that is made for a niche community. Not much to say about the gameplay, of course.

The story however was interesting to me. How the choices matter and how all different branches come together in the end. I think it's worth one playthrough at least.

A visually stunning and emotionally charged game with choices that felt genuinely impactful. Watching the characters’ paths evolve based on my decisions made for a gripping experience.

When I first played the demo for this, I was in love! The full game was extra fantastic and this has cemented itself as one of my favourites of all time. The quality of the graphics was stunning to see, and there are SO many different choices and endings, it's so well crafted. I loved following the three different main protagonists and their stories, seeing how this world can mean something different to each individual. Markus' was my least favourite to play, but Jesse Williams did a stellar job and I still had a good time. Connor and Hank's was my favourite, it was very heartwarming and had the best pacing of the three.
