Death Stranding is a weird, beautiful mess. The walking simulator tag might throw people off, but there’s a deeper, reflective experience here about isolation and connection. The visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is surprisingly meditative. It’s slow, but the payoff is worth it if you’re up for the ride.

I find it hard to describe this game in a way that makes it sound interesting. After all it is a post apocalyptic postman game The universe and story are terrific and while a good story doesn't make a game great, something about this game makes a mundane concept a true pleasure to play. I loved playing it.

Death Stranding delivers a deep and complicated story, which is quite rare in the video game industry but the problem is it forgets sometimes that it's a game and not a TV series.

I think the story in this game took so much effort from the developers that they forgot about the gameplay.

Not that I don't like the challenges in taking stuff from one point to another, but it's just too repetitive for a game this long. The combat also feels shallow and simple.

There is no real feel of progression in Death Stranding gameplay-wise, but it's still worth playing at least once for the sake of the story.

It's hard to believe that Death Stranding was developed and released before the COVID-19 pandemic, as its themes of isolation and connection seemed tailor-made for that wild, uncertain period we all had to live through. Admittedly, I checked this out because Norman Reedus was in it, but I found myself enthralled with the gameplay loop. The slower-paced "walking simulator" won't be everyone's cup of tea; losing your packages while trying to climb a hill is the definition of frustrating. Still, there's something oddly peaceful about roaming the open world, and the story - confusing as it might be - has some deep emotional weight.

Only thing that keeps it from being perfect is a the driving. Worst driving in a game, ever. Story is great if you can suspend your disbelief like we do with every other game franchise out there. Characters have some personality, even though everyone's just sad the entire time. The only happy guy is Heartman. Piss as a weapon was great. Loved throwing feces at giant lion tar creatures. Consider the first few chapters as tutorial. Other than, awesome game

Slightly overrated in my view. Yes the story is interesting and the world looks cool visually (sometimes), but it doesn't offer enough variety in its gameplay to remain interesting for too long.

Death Stranding is a weirdly captivating journey. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of all the delivery missions, but by the end, I was hooked on the world and the story. It’s slow-paced, but there’s something oddly satisfying about just connecting the dots across the country.

Every once in a blue moon, a piece of art will transcend the medium in which is was created.

Death Stranding is not just my favorite modern video game, it's one of my favorite pieces of artistic expression. From the moment it was revealed, long before we knew anything about the actual gameplay, the imagery spoke to me in a way that few artistic works ever have, before or since.

The ideas at the heart of Death Stranding are incredibly profound. Reaching out through time and space to make a connection with something, or someone...it's speaks to the unique pain of existence as a human being on this rock. OK, that sounds incredibly pretentious, and maybe it is. But Death Stranding affected me in such a massive way.

I suspect that Death Stranding's gameplay loop is one of those 'love it or hate it' type deals. Having loved it so thoroughly, I find it hard to imagine even the possibility of hating it. But since I have eyes and the internet, I know people do. I know there is something of a cult of personality around Hideo Kojima, and that rubs some people the wrong way. He clearly has an extremely unique approach to creation, but I think his true talent lies in his ability to attract supremely talented teams around him. The developers at Kojima Productions are clearly some of the best in the business, as Death Stranding is a wonder to behold at every level.

If you have not played Death Stranding, drop everything else and play it. There is no higher compliment I can give a video game. Do not trust a review to tell you whether it's good or bad. Just play it.

Death Stranding has a shockingly good story for a game that feels as if it has little gameplay to it. Even as many claim it to be a walking simulator, I cannot deny how oddly relaxing it is to walk from one location to the next, carrying all sorts of cargo on Sam's back while gradually making progress through the story.

I couldn't even finish it, its hard to get into a game when one of your biggest enemies is literally falling over. It looks amazing other then that nah
