A Dark Souls player experiences a lucky save after being swept off a narrow bridge in one of the game's mid-game dungeons. The original Dark Souls still has an active community of players who enjoy running through the game again and again, trying to pull off ridiculous stunts and hunting for secrets.
It's not just the challenging enemies and brutally difficult boss fights that give FromSoftware's Souls games their reputation. A big part of that is the unforgiving platforming that's baked into many of these games' expertly crafted levels. Many of FromSoftware's Souls levels beg players to peek over every ledge, often beckoning them with shimmering items dangling over deadly chasms. The platforming in these games is very simple, yet precise, and players can easily slip up if they're not careful, especially when there are large swinging traps and obstacles in the way.
10 Bleakest Areas In Dark Souls Games, Ranked
These are some of the bleakest areas to explore in the Dark Souls trilogy.
On Twitter, Dexerto posted a ridiculous clip of a Dark Souls player who goes by Uzume-RR4. The 30-second clip shows Uzume attempting to cross a narrow bridge adorned with massive swinging axes in Sen's Fortress, one of Dark Souls' mid-game dungeon areas. Uzume gets hit by one of the axes, knocking them backward on the bridge. As their character is lying on the ground, another axe sweeps them off the bridge, sending Uzume plummeting before being saved by another swinging axe on the level below. It's on this swinging axe where Uzume regains their composure as the character stands back up before safely dismounting the axe and getting back onto solid ground on the other side.
Dark Souls Player Gets Lucky While Exploring Sen's Fortress
Most video games with this same sort of platforming obstacle give players enough room in-between the axes to stand and wait for the next axe to pass. However, this area in Dark Souls' San's Fortress doesn't seem to give the player that luxury, forcing them to have to time their sprints to the other side. While Uzume was extremely lucky to be saved by another swinging axe, it must have taken a lot of skill to be able to make that dismount after the pressure of such an unbelievable save. It was very quick in the video, but Uzume had to step forward off the axe that saved him and in front of another swinging axe while aiming for the narrow bridge, all while another axe closer to the camera blocked their view for a split second.
It's incredible that Dark Souls is almost 15 years old and players are still witnessing unbelievable situations such as Uzume-RR4's. It's proof that FromSoftware's simple, yet unforgiving platforming mechanics can make for some hilarious, lucky, and incredibly rare moments. Hopefully, gamers who still play Dark Souls will continue to find themselves in these unprecedented platforming situations, and hopefully they can make it out alive.
