Trading And Selling Basics
As indicated above, players often gather unnecessary items. To manage this, you have two primary options.
- First, you can sell items to merchants for gold to buy the required equipment.
- The other option is to trade with other players and receive items directly.
Dealing with Merchants
The game has a merchants' menu, which players can see in the Downtown Lobby while trading. The items each merchant deals with vary, depending on their specialization. Here, you can sell the items you no longer need for gold or purchase better equipment.
Trading with Other Players
Dark and Darker has a trading channel for players to do person-to-person trades. However, it takes more time to get through. Only players of level 5 can join an order for a one-time initiation cost of 25 gold.
The channel is divided into categories like weapons, armor, utility items, and general goods such as powders or ores to help players find trading partners with similar equipment needs.
How to Initiate a Trade
Once you’re on the trading channel, pick your item category in the drop-down menu. Right-click the item you want to trade and press Trade Request. To sell your item, add it to chat by Shift-clicking on it and mention the price for which you will take offers.
When you run a trade, both parties place their items (or gold) into the trading inventory. Once the terms are agreeable, each side hits Confirm Trade to finalize the transaction.
In Dark and Darker, you won't be able to trade items directly between your characters. If you grab an item that is perfect for one of your other characters, you’ll need to come up with a solution. The right way is to trade the item to a friend you trust, who can then trade it later to your other character.
Becoming a Trader and Engaging in the Trade System
Once players reach the required level, they can become traders after paying an initial fee to access specialized trading rooms. These rooms contain over 400 other players with whom you can interact for buying and selling. Players initiate trading via the Trade tab in the main menu and engage in a dynamic marketplace.
