Daredevil: Born Again and the Penguin TV series halted production due to the writers' strike. While both shows were targeted by picketers before, this time Daredevil: Born Again and Penguin will only resume filming when the strike is over.

Daredevil: Born Again and Penguin are the latest shows that impacted the WGA Strike. The writers want increased pay, as nearly half of them are paid minimum wage, according to the WGA. Additionally, writers get paid residuals for shows that went into syndication and would receive payment whenever the shows were being rerun. Due to how streaming services work under their old contract, writers are not earning residuals for streamed shows. Along with many other issues, one of the more prominent ones is AI usage. The WGA would like to work out safeguards so that AI is used sparingly.

Now the big studios are starting to feel the pressure, as Deadline reports Disney has halted production on Daredevil: Born Again, and Warner Bros. Has suspended production of The Penguin. Neither show will resume production until the writers' strike ends. This is the third time that Daredevil: Born Again has shut down production. Additionally, Colin Farell has joined the writers in a picket line outside Paramount in Times Square.

Daredevil: Born Again is a revival of Netflix's Daredevil series, which was canceled in 2018 with the other Netflix Marvel shows. The 18-episode Disney Plus series will follow Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matthew Murdock. Cox has recently appeared as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk. The series will also see Jon Bernthal return as The Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio return as Kingpin.

The Penguin is a spin-off series to Matt Reeves ' The Batman and will stream on Max. The series will see Farrell's The Penguin rise to power in Gotham City. This series and Reeves' movies are not connected to the DCU. There is no idea when the writers’ strike will end, so it may be a while until both shows can resume production.

Daredevil: Born Again and Penguin are scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus and Max, respectively, in 2024
