6 The Music Room Portraits
The Maestros Come Alive
- Classification: Urban Legends
- Story Arc: Evil Eye Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 57
In Takakura’s school, Kami High, there’s a rather odd urban legend about the music room. It is said that whoever plays music badly in that room at around two in the morning will summon the spirit of the dead musicians whose pictures hang on the walls of the music room.
It’s unclear whether those summoned creatures are truly the spirits of the real musicians (Beethoven, Mozart, etc), or simply astral beings who take the form of those legendary musicians. One thing’s for sure: they will kill anyone they deem an untalented musician. From creating mini bombs with their tangible musical notes to altering the landscape with the beautiful sound of their instruments, these ghostly musicians are not ones to be trifled with.
5 The Mongolian Death Worm
The Colossal Ancient Serpent
- Classification: Cryptids
- Story Arc: Cursed House Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 37
Lurking underneath Jiji’s village is a giant cryptid that has been in the area for centuries. This creature is known as the Mongolian Death Worm, also known as the Tsuchinoko. Though it can easily traverse through the land, it prefers to stay holed up within the nearby volcano. When this monster grows hungry, the volcano begins to rumble. Other than the volcano, Tsuchinoko also likes to hang out beneath the most sacred place in the village, which happens to be the land where Jiji’s family resides.
Dandadan: 8 Strongest Spirits In The Manga, Ranked
Dandadan features some ruthless spirits, but these eight leave the most lasting impression.
For centuries, the Kito family—known as the weirdest family in the village—has kept the tradition of sacrificing the lives of innocent people in order to feed the Tsuchinoko. Interestingly enough, nobody else in the village knows about Tsuchinoko or the inhuman ritual that the Kito family has been doing for ages. By the way, other than its massive size, Tsuchinoko can also emit Psychic sound waves that can drive people who are unfortunate enough to hear it to take their own lives.
4 The Evil Eye
The Vengeful Evil Spirit
- Classification: Spirit
- Story Arc: Evil Eye Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 28
Though Evil Eye and Tsuchinoko may appear vastly different from the outside, they actually have quite a few things in common. Both of them reside underneath Jiji’s home, and they can produce psychic waves that can drive people insane to the point of taking their own lives. But Tsuchinoko does it with its sound, while Evil Eye messes with the brain of whoever is unfortunate enough to see its menacing eyes.
As its name suggests, the Evil Eye derives its power from evil, and its main purpose is to commit evil. Interestingly enough, the evil in its core stems from its hatred towards humanity, which is why it wants nothing more than to wipe out mankind. As you might already expect, the reason behind its ungodly amount of hatred towards humans will be revealed in season 2.
3 Space Kaiju
Godzilla from Space
- Classification: Alien
- Story Arc: Kaiju Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 63
Much like the spirits that have dwelled on Earth for centuries, the aliens from the far reaches of the galaxy also appear in a variety of shapes and forms. One even comes in the form of a Kaiju. Not just any Kaiju, it is the one Kaiju that everybody around the globe knows and loves: Godzilla.
Dandadan: 8 Strongest Aliens In The Manga, Ranked
Among the many aliens that feature in Yukinobu Tatsu's manga, these are the strongest of them all.
Granted, it is not the perfect replica of the real Godzilla, but the resemblance is clearly there. The similarity is not limited only to the appearance, because this space Kaiju also possesses the destructive force of the real Godzilla. Not only that, but this one also has the ability to change the size of its body freely. One moment it is the same size as an average human being, the next moment it grows into the size of a skyscraper.
2 Space Globalist
The Space Invaders
- Classification: Alien
- Story Arc: Space Globalists Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 72
The biggest fear that most people have when it comes to aliens is colonization. We are all scared that the aliens who possess much more advanced technology than us will come and forcefully take over the Earth. Well, that is precisely what the Space Globalists are trying to do in Season 2.
True to their name as globalists, the true purpose behind these space invaders is purely business. They invade a planet, enslave the population, and then destroy the planet once they’ve extracted every single resource from it. In a way, they are quite similar to Frieza’s Planetary Trade from Dragon Ball. Cruel intention aside, what makes these space globalists so dangerous is the fact that each and every one of them dons a powerful armored suit. These suits not only enhance their physical prowess but also allow them to shoot laser beams, cluster missiles, and other destructive weapons.
1 Slit-Mouthed Woman
The Strongest Spirit in Japan
- Classification: Spirit
- Story Arc: Space Globalists Arc
- First Appearance: Chapter 74
The Slit-Mouthed Woman is a dangerous spirit who resides in an abandoned apartment complex near Momo’s school. According to Grandma Seiko, this spirit’s real name is Reiko Kashima. Reiko mostly kept to herself, but whenever there was anybody unfortunate enough to meet her, she would always ask them the same question, “Am I beautiful?”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter what you say because all answers will result in death. Those who are fortunate enough to escape this terrible encounter will end up being stalked by Reiko Kashima. She will visit your house in the middle of the night and use the voice of your loved ones to lure you out of your house. She will do the same every night until you are dead or she gets bored.
As if that’s not terrifying enough, the Slit-Mouthed Woman also possesses absurd strength, speed, and agility. She can destroy a building with one punch, leave a crater on the floor with her stomp, and leap across buildings with one jump. She can also imprison anyone and anything in her magical mirror. Not to mention the fact that the angrier she gets, the stronger she becomes, just like the Hulk. All of these horrifying traits are the reason why the Slit-Mouthed Woman is considered the strongest being that you will see in Season 2.
