Even after five years, Cyberpunk 2077 still continues to introduce extra content, and the game's most recent update, 2.3, was a pleasant surprise revealed over the summer. Released back in July, update 2.3 brought strong features like AutoDrive, an overhauled Photo Mode, and four new vehicles to the table, proving that Cyberpunk 2077 still has plenty of room to grow.

In the past, CD Projekt Red has made it seem like Cyberpunk 2077's post-launch support is over, but that clearly hasn't been the case. After the dystopian RPG received its major 2.0 update back in 2023, it marked a major turning point for the game, and as CD Projekt Red continues to add content and features, it's made many players assume that more is on the way. However, after the recent 2.31 patch, a potential 2.4 update may not be in the cards.

Update 2.3's four new vehicles included the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru, the Chevillon Legatus 450 Aquila, the Rayfield Caliburn "Mordred", and the Yaiba ASM-R250 Muramasa motorcycle.

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.31 Patch Could Spell Trouble for Update 2.4

What Does Patch 2.31 Include?

  • Various vehicle fixes, including an update to AutoDrive.
  • Bug fixes and updates to Photo Mode
  • Fixes to various missions

While these quality of life changes are great, it also makes one wonder why they weren't saved for a future update. This could potentially be a signal that CD Projekt Red has no intention of bringing a 2.4 update to Cyberpunk 2077 after all. Of course, this is purely speculation, but the 2.31 patch isn't exactly introducing anything groundbreaking, so it could have easily been included in the hoped-for 2.4.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.4 Should Take the Leash Off Its Most Valuable Stat

It's important to note that CD Projekt Red has made no indication that a 2.4 update is in the works, but as the developer continues to bring surprise changes to the game, it has potentially filled some players with false expectations regarding ongoing updates. After the developer was able to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back from the ashes of its notorious launch, many have been eagerly awaiting more from CD Projekt Red, which makes these unexpected updates that much more intriguing.

CD Projekt Red is currently hard at work on The Witcher 4. There has yet to be a release date announced for the game, but speculation has pointed to a potential 2027 launch. Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, codenamed Project Orion, also officially entered pre-production earlier this year.

After the dystopian RPG received its major 2.0 update back in 2023, it marked a major turning point for the game.

After Update 2.3, Theories About 2.4 Quickly Spread

When 2.3 was launched a few months ago, it didn't take long for players to notice that CD Projekt Red seemingly included some extra smaller features, with many assuming that they were hints at future content. One of these specific changes that players locked onto were ads for an in-game casino.

The North Oak Casino & Country Club has always been present in the base game, but it's impossible for players to actually reach. The thought of a brand-new casino area in Cyberpunk 2077 is thrilling, but it remains to be seen if the new in-game ads for it are hinting at 2.4's content or were simply included to freshen up Night City's advertisements.

There's also the possibility that these casino ads could be leaving little breadcrumbs that hint at what to expect in Cyberpunk 2077's sequel. Right now, there's no way to know for sure, but as time passes, it will be interesting to see if CD Projekt still has a few tricks up its sleeve or if the team is ready to move on from Cyberpunk 2077 for good.
