The Phantom Liberty trailer gives small hints and teasers as to what is to come.

CD Projekt RED was smart as to not give anything away about their Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. The release is bound to surprise many, even those that still doubt the amazing turnaround of Cyberpunk 2077. The Phantom Liberty DLC trailer reveals many exciting things awaiting players.

8 Dogtown

NPCs in new Cyberpunk 2077 district dogtown

Since the initial reveal of Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC expansion, it’s been known that a new district will be added to Night City. There isn’t much known or shown about this new Night City district. Until now. Solomon Reed talks of “Dogtown,” which many fans have assumed the new district is called. Considering Reed wants this place burned to the ground, it certainly fits in with the cesspool of Night City.

From what’s been seen of Dogtown so far, it seems dry, horrible, and perfectly encapsulating the hopelessness of Night City. It’ll be interesting to see how Dogtown adds to Night City’s lore and design, with other areas like Pacifica.

7 Air Force One Down

One of the more striking shots of the trailer shows that of a crashed airplane. This plane is no ordinary carrier and within the fiery wreckage is the symbol of Air Force One. This plane is famous for holding the President of the United States, and its crashing within Cyberpunk 2077 raises more questions than answers for the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC.

It’s certainly an interesting reveal in the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC trailer, and could potentially allude to V’s mission. Perhaps V is sent to Dogtown to save the President of the United States, or something far darker for this dystopia: to cover it up.

6 Morgan Blackhand?

One of the most famous solos in Cyberpunk is Morgan Blackhand. This character is a defining Cyberpunk character, and as important, if not more so as Johnny Silverhand. Blackhand has a rich history in Cyberpunk and deserves his debut in the triple-A design from CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.

The character may have potentially been revealed when an older man sits on a couch with a black arm. Although it may not be Morgan Blackhand, it hasn’t stopped some fans from speculating and hoping that the character will appear in the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.

5 Solomon Reed, FIA

The biggest Cyberpunk 2077 reveal since Keanu Reeves was shown as Johnny Silverhand occurred in the Phantom Liberty trailer. The game unveils Idris Elba as Solomon Reed. This character is a mystery and a brand-new creation for Cyberpunk 2077. Solomon Reed is an FIA agent for the New United States of America.

Not much is known about the FIA, what Solomon Reed wants, or if he is a romance option, but it’s clear that V is important to this plan. Idris Elba is a great actor, and his arrival into Cyberpunk 2077 will further credit the actor and the game with a grand performance and intrigue.

4 Face/Off

V recieving a new face from a ripperdoc

A giant shock and eyebrow-raising moment from the Phantom Liberty trailer is when V has a technology-integrated mask placed over their face. This mask seems like a lot more than a facial scrub, but a face plate to help disguise V. It certainly plays into the spy thriller vibes of the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.

If V receiving this faceplate from a Ripperdoc means that characters in Cyberpunk 2077 can alter their face to disguise themselves as other people with the simple act of a mask, then it opens up a greater mystery of whom one can trust in this dystopia.

3 Johnny Silverhand, In The Chrome

Returning physically, or, within the mind of V, is none other than Johnny Silverhand. This character is integral to Cyberpunk 2077. Not only because of the innate charm of Keanu Reeves as a narcissistic rocker boy terrorist but because he’s accidentally the reason that V is dying. It’s great to see the A-list actor back with a silver arm and a bone to pick with corpos.

Getting Keanu Reeves back may have been no easy task, but he is certainly here for the ride. If Johnny’s physical appearance in the Phantom Liberty trailer indicates anything, hopefully, it gives life to more adventures and further solidifies the chemistry between Johnny and V, as they share a mind and a body. Silverhand and his philosophy were some of the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077.

2 Melee Finishers

V killing someone with the mantis blades

It’s no surprise that such a bleak dystopia can be gruesome. Cyberpunk 2077 can be a brutal game, with an abundance of violence. Surprisingly, this violence isn’t enough for some, as the Phantom Liberty DLC features V using the Mantis Blades on some poor gonk.

This special attack move has V repeatedly stab the victim with unrelenting fury. It adds further intrigue as to what other attacks could be in the game, and if Cyberpunk 2077 is having a rehaul of the finisher animations, involving more dismemberment.

1 MaxTac Is Max Back

If players ever get bored in Cyberpunk 2077, they can try their luck at playing as a Cyberpsycho. They can commit atrocities, and go on a rampage in Night City to fight the police. Once maximum notoriety is achieved, MaxTac will involve itself in the fighting. However, they aren’t exactly hard to beat and don’t seem like the unit dedicated to taking down Cyberpsychos.

Sadly, MaxTac doesn’t appear much in Cyberpunk 2077, but the Phantom Liberty trailer shows a unit of MaxTac jumping from their aircraft. It would be great to see MaxTac in action, either against V or with V in this new deranged district of Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
