Since its 2020 launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone through many transformations and updates that have helped it become one of the strongest RPGs around. With game-changing DLC in Phantom Liberty and a variety of quality of life upgrades, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to draw players into the cutthroat metropolis of Night City.

The work of developer CD Projekt Red has been responsible for many of these great updates, but the game's modding community definitely can't go overlooked. There is a vast variety of Cyberpunk 2077 mod options for players to choose from, but one of the most groundbreaking yet comes from a modder known as Tylerrrr. On Nexus, Tylerrrr's creation, titled "Every Animation Redone TPP Third Person", brings an incredibly impressive third-person perspective to life in the game. The mod allows players to experience the game in a brand-new light, and its well-crafted nature raises a compelling argument for CD Projekt Red to add third-person to Cyberpunk 2077's sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 may be sci-fi, but one Phantom Liberty mission is a perfect case for a possible spin-off to venture into horror.

Cyberpunk 2077's Sequel Could Greatly Benefit From a Third-Person Perspective

Bringing More Options to Project Orion

As of now, the codename for Cyberpunk 2077's sequel is Project Orion. Much of the sequel remains a mystery, but it can be assumed that CD Projekt Red will strive to make Project Orion an even stronger experience than its predecessor. One of the best ways to make Project Orion exceed expectations is to bring a third-person option into the game.

Mods like Tylerrrr's third-person camera not only showcase the talent of the game's modding community, but it also demonstrates the desire for such a perspective to be featured in the game. At the time of this writing, the mod has received over 13,000 downloads, and that number is likely to grow. The mod was uploaded on September 29, so that's a significant number of downloads in just a few weeks. The high expectations for Project Orion put the game in a tough position, but the confirmation of bringing a third-person view to the game would immediately be praised by many members of the fan base.

A canceled Cyberpunk 2077 DLC set on the moon has ignited rumors about this setting being used for Project Orion. It's unclear if the sequel will completely move away from Night City.

Project Orion Setting Itself Apart From Cyberpunk 2077

Improving On Cyberpunk 2077's Mistakes

Project Orion will hopefully feature an even richer world compared to Cyberpunk 2077. Immersion is a major focus of Cyberpunk 2077, which makes the first-person view understandable. Being up close and personal with everything featured in Night City is a simple way to truly make players feel as though they're in the shoes of their character. However, not allowing players to choose how they experience the world of Cyberpunk 2077 can also have downsides.

A third-person camera angle can show more of a character's surrounding environment, which can still bring plenty of immersion, even if it's not close up. With much of Project Orion being unknown, it's intriguing to speculate about what the sequel will feature, and allowing players to choose how they are immersed in Night City could be more effective overall.

Project Orion was first announced in 2022, but active development on the sequel didn't start until earlier this year.

There are many who love Cyberpunk 2077's first-person approach, but offering more choices to players would likely only increase excitement for a follow-up chapter. Rumors about Project Orion have been circulating nonstop since it was first confirmed. It will likely be a while before CD Projekt Red offers more insight into the sequel, but whenever more news comes to light, there will hopefully be an update regarding possible camera perspectives.
