While exploring a farming village in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, players notice a surprising, yet funny error on a computer. It's clear that Square Enix has a lot planned for its efforts to remake the classic Final Fantasy 7 series. After a lengthy development cycle, Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched in 2020 to critical acclaim from both fans and media alike. With 2023 on the horizon, Square Enix appears to be positioning the second part, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, for launch later in the year, and giving fans the next chapter of its revised retelling of the classic title.
Earlier this year however, Square Enix made the surprising announcement that the PSP title Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 was being remastered. The game's graphics have been converted to HD along with all new 3D models to better match what fans are seeing in the core Final Fantasy 7 Remake titles. In addition to full voice acting, the game's combat systems have been overhauled to also match the modern games. However, for all these changes, it appears that a small detail has been overlooked, leading some players to tilt their head in confusion.
Over on the Final Fantasy subReddit, a user named TimeRocker posted an image of a computer being used by a character. While seemingly innocuous at first glance, an issue quickly shows itself as the computer is completely missing the power cable. Looking at the back of the desktop tower as well as the monitor, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion fans can clearly see power ports that are not plugged in. In fact, the PC tower even has two sockets, both missing any sort of cable to power the machine.
Naturally, the post inspired plenty of snarky comments from readers, many trying to explain the situation by saying the PC is being powered by materia or Mako batteries. Others were just glad that what was plugged in actually made sense. While some expressed surprise at such old looking PC hardware, many explained it through the fact that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a prequel to the new trilogy of remakes, taking place 7 years before the FF7 Remake begins. In that time, a lot of technological advancements take place, though considering this is taking place in a small village, that type of hardware makes sense.
Considering the prequel element, players may notice that some character present in Final Fantasy 7 Remake seem to be a little different in how they act or behave. Series villain Sephiroth even comes across as more vulnerable and less threatening, showcasing what he was like prior to his fall and turn.
