In the run-up to the sandbox RPG's release, publisher Merge Games shared half a dozen new Pixelshire screenshots—which The Best War Games can exclusively reveal. New Pixelshire Gameplay Screenshots
Pixelshire May Look Like Stardew Valley, But There's More to It
Between its pixel graphics and combination of farming sim and RPG mechanics, Pixelshire probably won't be able to avoid Stardew Valley comparisons at launch. The newly shared screenshots even show a location that looks reminiscent of Stardew Valley's Wizard's Tower. One of the key differences between ConcernedApe's hit farming sim and Pixelshire is that the latter aims to deliver a full-fledged city-building experience, allowing players to design their own town. Terraforming plays a central role, with most locations customizable down to fine details—whether by raising hills, carving rivers, demolishing terrain to create valleys, or reshaping the landscape in other creative ways.
Pixelshire's life sim mechanics are meaningfully intertwined with its progression loop. Befriending NPCs and fulfilling their requests will help players unlock a variety of skills and talents, which can then be used for tackling other challenges. In between socializing, farming, and town design, players will have the opportunity to explore Arcadia, a massive continent filled with dungeons, treasures, and secrets alike. Pixelshire hence aims to be both a cozy decoration game and a compelling RPG focused on exploration.
Pixelshire Offering 15% Launch Discount
The sandbox RPG can currently be pre-ordered on Steam. While it's planned to retail for $24.99, Merge Games is offering a 15% launch discount until May 22. The game itself will launch via Steam on May 8. Pixelshire has previously also been confirmed for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. While its console versions are still waiting for a firm release date, Merge Games recently committed to launching them before the end of 2025.
