A coveted weapon skin in Counter-Strike 2 just sold for over $1 million in real-world money, marking one of the biggest sales ever seen in the game. Counter-Strike 2 is no stranger to high-priced weapon skins, but this million-dollar weapon, a variant of a popular AK-47 skin, breaks new ground, marking a new era for the popular free-to-play game.
Few first-person shooters are as revered or as popular as Counter-Strike. Originally released back in 2000, Valve's snappy and tight tactical shooter has continued to dominate the FPS scene over two decades later, with Counter-Strike 2 being the most recent entry in the series. Counter-Strike 2 was released in September of 2023, ushering in a new age for fans of the franchise. Unlike other sequels, Counter-Strike 2 was built off of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with the game acting more as a complete overhaul of the classic game rather than a direct sequel. Counter-Strike 2 shipped with improved visuals, more realistic smoke effects and physics, and other new features. Weapon skins remain a major piece of the Counter-Strike puzzle, with one skin selling for an unbelievable amount of money.
How to Improve Your Aim in Counter Strike 2
If you're struggling with aiming in Counter-Strike 2, here are some ways you can improve!
After years of being steeped in legend and mystery, the fabled Counter-Strike AK-47 Blue Gem Case Hardened skin has sold for over $1 million, blowing way past previous sales records. Twitter user roflm0nster revealed they had acquired the skin in April and announced they had sold it to a private buyer on June 5, 2024. Twitter user JakeSucky shared a video showing off what the weapon skin looks like in-game.
Counter-Strike 2 Skin Sells For Over $1 Million
While gunfights remain the core focus of Counter-Strike 2, players can customize their collection of weapons with skins. Similar to how the in-game economy works in other Valve titles like Team Fortress 2, weapon skins can be obtained by opening cases or by trading with other players. Certain items have rarer drop rates, with this "Blue Gem" AK-47 skin being an incredibly rare pattern variant of the Case Hardened skin. The weapon is even rarer due to it being a StatTrack, an item that counts a player's kills. This specific skin can only be acquired by opening a CS:GO Weapon Case, which is currently priced at over $100. Opening one of these cases does not guarantee the player the Case Hardened skin, nor does it guarantee the rare pattern or that the weapon will be StatTrack.
To add to the already rare nature of this weapon, the AK-47 skin is Factory New, the best condition possible. When players open weapon skins in Counter-Strike 2, skins can come in five different wear ratings, which include Battle-Scarred, Well-Worn, Field-Tested, Minimal Wear, and Factory New. While Counter-Strike 2 certainly has a ton of rare and highly sought-after weapon skins, this AK-47 skin will be incredibly hard to beat.
