The many twists and turns of the Remedy Connected Universe are starting to align after Alan Wake 2 and its DLC brought it into direct contact with games like Control and Quantum Break. Now with Control 2 on the horizon, Remedy has the chance to further expand this universe and build on the plot threads introduced by Alan Wake 2. Even with Control 2 likely shifting its narrative away from Bright Falls and back to the FBC's activities elsewhere, one lingering theory from Alan Wake 2 could prove to be an important plot point for Remedy's next title.
Despite the original Alan Wake solely staring its titular writer, Alan Wake 2 brought newcomer Saga Anderson into the story as a second protagonist. While the purpose of Saga's arrival in Alan Wake 2's town of Bright Falls is initially to investigate the murder of FBI agent Robert Nightingale and the mysterious Cult of the Tree, it quickly becomes clear that she has a far stronger connection to the town—and Alan Wake—which drew her there. The history of Saga's family becomes a major part of her character arc, powers, and role in the narrative of Alan Wake 2, but one major question mark the game leaves could be one of the tentpoles that hold up the greater Remedy Connected Universe.

How Alan Wake 2 Hints at the Identity of Saga's Father
Throughout Alan Wake 2, Saga is constantly grappling with her family's history and connection to Bright Falls. Although Saga meets her grandfather and grand-uncle, Tor and Odin, at the Valhalla Nursing Home in Bright Falls, the identity of her father, who was said to be missing since her childhood, remains in question. As Saga learns more about her family and their shared supernatural powers, it becomes increasingly clear that the enigmatic Warlin Door, whom Alan Wake encounters in the Dark Place during the "Initiation" chapters of the game, is likely her father, though this is never outright confirmed.
The evidence that Door is Saga's father can be found in the manuscript page "Odin Loses An Eye," which details the story of how Odin makes a deal with the "dark one" in 1988 who would leave the Anderson family alone in exchange for his eye, lining up with the timeline of Saga's father's disappearance. With Tor and Odin said to have a strained relationship with Saga's father, their desire for this "dark one" to leave their family alone aligns with their feelings towards Saga's father. Finally, during The Final Draft version of Return 9, Saga can meet Tor and Odin in the Dark Place where they say they've been performing on Door's show and that they've buried the hatchet, suggesting that Door is the "dark one" they made a deal with previously as well as Saga's father, who they are now on better terms with.
Saga Anderson Could Play a Key Role in Control 2
It's clear that Warlin Door is a crucial figure within the Remedy Connected Universe, as he appears or is referenced in several remedy titles and has knowledge of and power over the multiverse. With his greater role within the RCU still largely shrouded in mystery, his connection to Saga may be the key to bringing him to the forefront of the overarching narrative. If Door really is the linchpin of the Remedy Connected Universe, it stands to reason that the nature of his relationship with Saga would need to be confirmed sooner or later, and Control 2 may be the perfect opportunity to do it.
Alan Wake 2 sees Control's FBC join forces with the FBI and Saga Anderson to investigate the events of Bright Falls surrounding the Cult of the Tree, so it's likely that Saga is not done teaming up with the agency just yet. Alan Wake 2's The Lake House DLC makes it clear that the FBC and Saga are intertwined in the AWE at Cauldron Lake, potentially setting up a major plot point in Control 2. If Saga does appear in Control 2, even if its in DLC, the game should take the opportunity to establish her relationship as Door's daughter once and for all so that future Remedy games can build upon that connection.
