Concord developer Firewalk Studios has announced that it will extend the closed beta period for the upcoming live-service title by one day. The closed beta for the 5v5 hero shooter was originally scheduled to run from July 12 to July 14, but those who enjoyed Concord can now jump back in for an additional 24 hours.

First announced during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase by way of a CGI trailer, Concord signified a return to in-house first-person shooters for PlayStation, a genre the company has largely shied away from since 2013's Killzone: Shadow Fall. The recent May 2024 State of Play debuted Concord gameplay, revealing it as a sci-fi 5v5 hero shooter in the same vein as Overwatch and Valorant, but with a healthy dose of inspiration from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Alongside the gameplay, Firewalk also confirmed an August 23 release date for Concord, as well as a closed beta period in mid-July for those who pre-ordered the game.

PlayStation's upcoming hero shooter, Concord, finally reveals how its microtransactions and paid DLC will work as the game prepare for launch.

In late June, Firewalk officially announced that Concord's closed beta period would run from July 12 to July 14. Right before the closed beta kicked off on PlayStation 5 and PC, the studio also opened it up to allow PlayStation Plus subscribers to jump into Concord, eschewing the pre-order requirement. However, even though the closed beta period was meant to end on June 14, Firewalk has confirmed on its official Twitter account that it will extend Concord's beta availability by an additional day. The closed beta period for Concord is now set to end on Monday, July 15, at 12pm PDT / 1pm MDT / 2pm CDT / 3pm EDT.

  • North America: 12pm PDT / 1pm MDT / 2pm CDT / 3pm EDT
  • UK/Ireland: 8pm BST
  • Europe: 9pm CEST / 10pm EEST
  • Asia/Oceania: 4am (Tue) JST / 3am (Tue) AWST / 5am (Tue) AEST

Concord's closed beta will be extended for all previously eligible players across PS5 and PC, although it might not bode well for the shooter's popularity. Firewalk didn't state the reason behind the extension, but considering Concord peaked at just 1,124 concurrent players on Steam during the beta period and including the last-minute addition of PlayStation Plus users, pre-orders for the live-service hero shooter may not have looked very strong. However, Firewalk will also host an open beta period for Concord, which is slated to run from July 18 to July 21 for all players on PS5 and PC.

The open beta should offer a better look into player's general perception of Concord. So far, the hype for the hero shooter doesn't seem to be that high on PC, possibly due to many players finding its hero shooter trappings unoriginal, as well as Sony enforcing the notorious PSN login requirement for Concord. Even though the odds may be against it, Concord may still find success if its core gameplay and ideas end up speaking to a more sizable audience.
