On July 17, EA Sports released a small update for College Football 26 that allowed Dynasty mode users to change a player's position within certain groups to avoid a skill cap penalty. The Dynasty mode update for EA Sports College Football 26 also addressed an exploit that allowed players to have more Coach Points than intended.
The new patch came just a few days after College Football 26 received a Title Update to address some bugs and make adjustments to gameplay. Issues that caused linebackers to run slower than normal, and blocked kicks to not play out when using a left-footed kicker, were addressed in the July 15 Title Update. Adjustments were also made to the timing of "Perfectly Timed" stiff-arms and the success rate of interceptions. Some Road to Glory mode adjustments were made to the Per Play Grading system for the MIKE and CB positions, with more impact placed on forcing turnovers and scoring touchdowns.
EA Sports FC 26 Release Date Announced
EA confirms the release date for EA Sports FC 26, setting the stage for the next chapter in its flagship football franchise later this year.
After gathering player feedback on Dynasty mode in C ollege Football 26, EA Sports revealed some changes that have taken effect via a new update. According to the development team, online Dynasty files are the only ones affected by the July 17 update, including files that were created before the patch went live. Dynasty users can now change a player's position within a current position group, such as a running back to a fullback, or a cornerback to a strong safety or free safety, without incurring skill cap penalties. Athlete (ATH) recruits can now set their initial position without any impact on their skill group caps, giving Dynasty users more options for filling out skill positions.
Ergo, quarterbacks in College Football 26 can't swap positions without a skill cap penalty. Additionally, skill caps are also more influenced by Development Traits and school year, with younger players and higher traits having higher skill caps at their new positions. A future Title Update to College Football 26 will make the same changes to offline Dynasty files. Along with the skill cap update, an exploit with Coach Points was addressed.
Additionally, the Reach Your Potential ability for the Motivator coaching backstory was nerfed, which will affect the influence given to recruits who hit a skill group cap. With additional changes to College Football 26 planned for future Title Updates, it remains to be seen what EA Sports will do as the 2025 college football season draws closer.

Please note that these changes take effect for online Dynasty files only and yes, these will work in already created Dynasty files. We will have a future Title Update to bring these updates to offline Dynasty files, just sit tight!
Skill Caps & Position Changes Updates

You can now change a player's position within their current position group without penalty to their skill caps. You’ll be free to swap positions within these groupings:
- Running Back (RB, FB)
- Offensive Line (LT, LG, C, RG, RT)
- Defensive Line (LEDG, REDG, DT)
- Linebacker (SAM, MIKE, WILL)
- Defensive Back (CB, FS, SS)
- Specialist (K, P)
- Athlete (ATH) Recruits can now set their initial position without impact to their skill group caps.
- A player’s new skill caps are now more strongly influenced by their Development Trait and school year. Younger players and those with higher Development Traits will have higher skill caps at their new position.
Additional Updates
- Addressed a Coach Point exploit when retiring and then creating a new coach character.

Reduced the impact of the Reach Your Potential ability (Motivator Tier 1) for better coach ability and recruiting balance.
- Note: This affects the influence given to recruits when a player at their position hits a skill group cap.
