Summary

  • EA Sports College Football 25's servers are already struggling before the official release date due to high demand.
  • Fans have eagerly awaited a new college football game for 11 years, making the server issues even more disappointing.
  • The game includes an Ultimate Team mode with current college players, legends, and NFL stars, despite ongoing server problems.

EA Sports College Football 25 doesn't even fully release until Friday, July 19, and yet the game's servers are already experiencing rampant issues. The massively anticipated sports sim title officially became available today in early access for gamers who placed a pre-order, but it appears that EA's servers weren't prepared to handle the massive influx. This has led to a flood of reports on Twitter of various, game-breaking performance issues being found throughout EA Sports College Football 25.

Fans of college football have been painstakingly waiting for another official video game about the sport for an extremely long time. The last entry of such a kind was NCAA Football 14, which launched in July 2013, making it almost exactly 11 years since fans have been able to hit the gridiron as their favorite CFB teams. In anticipation of the release, developer EA Sports has revealed the exact release times for College Football 25, right down to specific time zones around the world. EA recommends downloading the game ahead of launch - a wise decision given its current server status.

College Football 25 Will Include Unexpected Player

College Football 25 is the first of its series in 13 years, and its impressive roster of players has just added one more who was unanticipated.

Some players who are attempting to play EA Sports College Football 25 during early access are claiming that "nothing works" in the game currently. While the game technically doesn't require an internet connection to be played, EA Sports College Football 25's various modes include multiple online comaponents. While those familiar with annual sports titles may be familiar with EA's usual server struggles during a launch, other players aren't cutting it any slack. One EA Sports College Football 25 player wished to play without the servers "dying on schedule," and that there's no excuse for EA "to not be ready."

The server issues are reportedly affecting just about every aspect of the game, including EA Sports College Football 25' s Ultimate Team mode. A popular game mode with other EA Sports titles, College Football 25's Ultimate Team mode will feature solo and head-to-head seasons, allowing players to collect and comprise various college players to create their ideal roster. While the focus will remain on current college players, the mode will also feature college legends, along with NFL stars such as Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

EA Sports College Football 25's Servers Headed to Overtime

While EA Sports College Football 25 may be struggling with early access, other games have had to deal with major server issues after their full launch. Free-to-play survival game Once Human has been addressing server issues leading to long queue times and multi-server outages, causing players' progress and characters to completely disappear. While a lesser-known free-to-play title may catch less flak, EA will need a solid game plan to ensure its College Football 25 servers run smoothly at launch.
