Road to Glory is one of the new modes for College Football 25 that aims to provide an as-true-as-possible replication of what it's like to be a collegiate athlete in the NCAA. This includes managing your academics, creating a solid relationship with your teammates, and even waiting to earn your playing time by sitting on the bench. This last part includes earning your coach's trust so that you can start calling your own plays now and then.

When you first start out in this mode, you will notice that the coach will give you one play every time that you can run. Sometimes, that play just doesn't fit the situation at hand. Luckily, there is one way to override this: Play Selection. This mechanic allows you to open up your playbook a little bit more so that you can choose the play that feels right for what you are trying to do. Here is how you can use this mechanic to its maximum potential.

How To Enable Play Selection

College Football 25 - Enable Play Selection

Enabling Play Selection is quite easy once you know what to do. When the playbook comes up, and you are given the one play that your coach wants you to run, all you have to do is press Y/Triangle, depending on which platform you're playing on and what kind of controller you're using.

This will give you three more plays that you can choose from, so it doesn't give you complete and total control. However, it certainly gives you more options to take when your coach is leaving you scratching your head. Of course, if you choose to run a no-huddle offense, this isn't going to be useful.

College Football 25 - Play Selection amount

To make it somewhat realistic, there is a finite number of times that you can use Play Selection. You will see the number of chances you have left just above the plays on your screen. You can also gain more opportunities by increasing your coach's trust during the season. This can be done in a few different ways:

  • Complete positive actions during games.
  • Perform well in training exercises.
  • Raise your GPA and Leadership rating.

So, while it may be frustrating to only do what your coach tells you to do, when you are starting, it can be helpful to get a good foundation of trust so that you can have more freedom in the future. We recommend not worrying about using Play Selection until your second season or even your third. It's usually better to increase your trust and reputation before taking over play-calling. Just play smart, play right, and eventually, you will be free to do what you want in any match.
