Where to Find the Mountain Underground Facility Key in Code…

Many of the areas in Code Vein 2 have dungeons or caves that are inaccessible until players progress past a certain point in the story. While exploring these dungeons, players might come across locked doors that require a key to open, but the key is nowhere in sight.

One good example of this is the Mountain Underground Facility, where a path to the right leads to a large, open room with a locked gate in the far right corner. Here is how players can open this gate and what rewards lie behind these bars in Code Vein 2.

Where to Find the Mountain Underground Facility Key in Code Vein 2

When you first reach the Mountain Underground Facility, which is located to the west of Sunken City, you will find a room on the right that has a revival stone outside. This might give you the feeling that a boss fight will commence, but that is not the case, at least not right now. Inside the room is a locked door that you need a key for, and this will remain locked until you complete a few steps first.

Firstly, you need to progress through a lot of the main story. Your main objective is to complete Josee's arc so that you can talk to her during the 2187 Free Exploration. She is located inside the dining room, behind where Valentin is standing. Talk to her, and she will ask you to retrieve different spices for her. There are three different spices in the three major regions.

The first is located inside Sunken City, northeast of the Sunken Pylon. You need to go into the broken-down building here with multiple enemies inside. One floor before the roof, you will spot a glowing yellow item on the left, which is the Rich Spice.

Revealing the map by destroying the jammers will help you explore the regions much more freely.

After this, complete Lyle's arc so that you can explore the Northern Watch Fort, located to the north of Corroded Scar. Inside the building, below a staircase, you can find the second spice, Aromatic Spice.

The final spice is located in Undead Forest, and you must complete Holly's arc so that you can freely explore the region. Go to the Withered Greenhouse, where Holly's Cocoon is kept in the present. Here, you will find Hot Spice.

Once you have all the spices, bring them back to Josee, and there will be multiple cutscenes where she will try to cook dishes for you to taste. She will not be satisfied with these spices, so you will have to partner up with her to get the second request, which involves checking out the Mountain Underground Facility.

Go back to the same room where the locked gate was, and this time, you will face the Spice Predator boss. Most of its attacks are easy to dodge out of, so you do not need to rely on parries for every attack. Once you defeat it, you will get the key and complete Josee's request. Head over to the gate and open it to find a chest with a Plagueward Runeleaf inside.
