While working to slay the hero Lyle in Code Vein 2, players are instructed to defeat the retainer in the Limestone Cave. While the position of the cave is clearly marked on the in-game map, some players may be confused about exactly how to enter it. This guide is here to alleviate that confusion, and it will help players reach the Limestone Cave in Code Vein 2.

The in-game description of this quest objective does provide information about reaching the Limestone Cave, and players should make a habit of checking those descriptions when they are lost.

Code Vein 2 expands on the foundation of the first game, offering more freedom and flexibility in combat with a variety of weapon types and abilities.

How to Reach Limestone Cave in Code Vein 2

Go to Forward Base Two & Ride the South Bridge Elevator

Players who are trying to reach the Limestone Cave should begin by returning to Forward Base Two, an encampment they have already visited as part of Lyle's arc. Here, players should move east along the path that runs next to Forward Base Two Mistle and take their first left to find the South Bridge Elevator. Players should ride the elevator to the bottom.

Upon exiting the elevator, players should follow the path to their right (eastward) to enter the Crystal Grotto. This short dungeon feeds directly into the Limestone Cave, and players will find the Limestone Cave Mistle as soon as they reach that boundary.

Players should not feel as though they need to rush through the Crystal Grotto, as there are a variety of weapon upgrade materials and resources to be found within it. There is also a map jammer in this section, and destroying it will reveal the layout of this entire cave system.

In the Limestone Cave

Not long after entering the Limestone Cave, players will encounter the Ravenous Predator, the target of the "defeat the retainer in the Limestone Cave" objective. While players are free to leave the area after defeating that foe, the cave extends beyond the arena where the battle with the Ravenous Predator occurs, and there are several things worth collecting in that section, including:

  • A Golden Nectar, which can be used at a Mistle to increase the number of available heals.
  • A Regional Pathos that provides an Attack Power and Recoverable Damage Reduction boost.
  • The Gaia Impact combat formae, which can be equipped to hammers and allows you to perform a shockwave-producing slam attack.
  • The Crushing Might combat formae, which can be equipped to any weapon and temporarily makes it easier to break an opponent's guard.

There are also Tender Crimson Stones and Pure Platinum, which can be used to upgrade weapons and Jails, to be found in the portion of the Limestone Cave beyond the Ravenous Predator.
