Assault rifles in Call of Duty: Warzone are some of the most versatile weapons in the entire battle royale. With most featuring a quick rate of fire, high damage output, and minimal recoil levels, players often gravitate towards this particular weapon category when creating a loadout.
With Season 5 Reloaded underway, the STG44 has excelled thanks to its superior in-game performance despite receiving hefty nerfs from Raven Software. Here, find the very best assault rifles to use in all of Warzone's game modes.

Some Warzone challenges are trickier than others. Find out how to complete the Redacted challenges and their rewards in this handy guide.
Best Warzone Assault Rifles
STG44
Although it's maximum damage was reduced, the STG44 remains the strongest assault rifle to use in Warzone. Armed with extremely low recoil and minimal damage-drop off at longer distances, the rifle is one of the most versatile weapons to use.
At mid-range and long-distance, there are very few weapons that can compete with its immense firepower. There's a strong possibility Raven Software applies further nerfs to the STG44 in future updates so make the most of it for the remainder of Season 5 Reloaded.
BP50
For those wanting an alternative to the STG44, the BP50 is another viable option from the assault rifle category. Featuring a blistering fire rate, the rifle is one of the stronger performers in close-quarters combat which is particularly useful when attempting to outgun opponents equipped with a SMG.
At longer ranges, it's easy for players to make an impact if they're able to tame the tricky recoil pattern of the BP50. At closer distances, it's the best rifle to use in Warzone and suits an aggressive style of play perfectly.
BAL-27
The BAL-27 dominated during the Advanced Warfare cycle and since its arrival in Warzone, the rifle has become a firm favorite among players looking for mobility and a consistent rate of fire.
The Season 5 Reloaded saw the rifle receive a much-needed damage range buff resulting in less drop-off and better performance at longer distances but its star quality is the incredible mobility and movement speed.
To top it off, the BAL-27 possesses minimal recoil guaranteeing high levels of accuracy in the heat of battle. Combined with attachments that enhance reaction times, the rifle is a strong secondary to use alongside a sniper rifle. Although the Call of Duty: Warzone meta continues evolving, assault rifles remain a popular choice among players looking to gain the upper hand over the opposition.
