As Season 5 Reloaded approaches, Activision is gearing up to conclude Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Zombies storyline, marking the end of an era for fans of the popular mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will release its final story mission for Zombies on August 21, along with a massive new update filled with content.
While support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 begins to wind down, fans are looking to the future and specifically at the highly anticipated Zombies mode coming with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Treyarch is once again aiming to reimagine the mode while also bringing back some popular features that old-school fans will love. Unlike Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode, Black Ops 6 will be taking things back to its roots and focusing heavily on round-based Zombies, something fans often request with each new entry. Players can also expect to see the return of wonder weapons, perks, and much more.
But for fans still holding Modern Warfare 3's Zombies near and dear, the end is quickly approaching. On August 15, Activision released the final story mission trailer for the mode and confirmed that August 21 would see the Zombies storyline come to a conclusion with the launch of Call of Duty's Season 5 Reloaded update. It's currently unconfirmed if Modern Warfare 3 will have a sixth season prior to the launch of Black Ops 6, but fans shouldn't expect any new Zombies missions to complete if it does.
Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Set to End With Season 5 Reloaded
When Activision revealed Call of Duty Season 5 in July, the studio also confirmed what new content would be coming to Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode in the mid-season update. On August 21, fans will be able to jump into the final story mission, which sees Operation Deadbolt confront a terrifying enemy known as the Entity in a new section of the Dark Aether. Once players survive the final mission, a concluding cinematic will begin and lead players into the new Dark Aether Rift, which will once again give players the opportunity to earn some powerful rewards and permanent unlocks.
Season 5 Reloaded will also give Zombies players the chance to grab three new schematics:
- Disciple Bottle: Spawn a friendly Disciple to wreak havoc against enemies.
- Grenade Bandolier: Replenish Lethal and Tactical Equipment over time, allowing regular bombardment of enemies.
- Stash Increase: Increase stash size to 30.
While August 21 will mark the end of an era for Modern Warfare 3 Zombies fans, there's still plenty to look forward to as the next entry in the series is fast approaching. For multiplayer fans eager to check out Black Ops 6's new omnidirectional movement system, the open beta is set to kick off on August 30. But for those wanting to get their hands on some new Zombies content, they'll need to wait until the full release of Black Ops 6 on October 25.
