Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Call of Duty titles yet, serving as the first futuristic entry in the franchise in recent years. Taking players into the near future following the events of Black Ops 2 in both its Multiplayer and Campaign, and propelling them into the Dark Aether storyline after the Reckoning in Black Ops 6, there’s plenty to dive into.
Those jumping into Black Ops 7 have a long grind ahead, from leveling up to unlock gear and weapons, to earning attachments and completing the classic camo grind across all modes. However, to boost progression and get a head start, players may want to get their hands on Double XP Tokens. Here’s how.

How to Get Double XP Tokens in Black Ops 7
Carry Forward Content
The first way players can get their hands on Double XP Tokens is simply by saving them from previous games. All unused Double XP Tokens earned in Black Ops 6 carry over to Black Ops 7 and can be activated on day one. If you have been playing and collecting tokens since Modern Warfare 2, you could easily have hours, if not hundreds of hours, of XP ready to use, giving you a good head start on leveling up your weapons and career rank.
Play Before Season 1
Another way for players to earn free Double XP Tokens simply by logging in is to play Black Ops 7 before the start of Season 1. As a bonus for those who jump into the game during its preseason, Black Ops 7 players will be awarded 5 hours of Double XP and Double Weapon XP. Season 1’s launch date has not been confirmed yet, but it is likely to roll out in early December, around December 5, so be sure to play before then to claim some extra XP rewards.
Promotional Rewards
Those who find themselves grabbing a bite from their favorite restaurants or picking up their favorite energy drinks can also earn free Double XP Tokens as part of various promotions. Call of Duty has teamed up with several brands, giving players the chance to redeem codes from their purchases for extra XP and exclusive in-game rewards.
Here is a rundown of all the current promotions for Black Ops 7 that reward players with Double XP and more:
- Monster x Black Ops 7: Redeem tag codes from select cans to unlock XP and rewards.
- Little Caesars x Black Ops 7: Redeem codes from receipts on purchases of $3 or more to unlock rewards and enter the sweepstakes.
- Muller x Black Ops 7: Redeem codes from Müllermilch bottles to unlock XP and rewards.
Battle Pass Rewards
Those jumping into Black Ops 7 can also get their hands on some Double XP Tokens through the Battle Pass. Each season of Black Ops 7 will feature a Battle Pass, with six Battle Passes across the game’s six-season run.
While Double XP Tokens may be earnable for free through some of the Battle Pass tiers, to get everything the Battle Pass has to offer, players may need to purchase it, with the base pass starting at 1,100 COD Points without any extras.
While the first Battle Pass will not be released until Season 1, those still leveling up the Season 6 Battle Pass for Black Ops 6 can continue to do so in Black Ops 7 until December 3. This allows players to unlock some additional XP Tokens through the Black Ops 6 Battle Pass if they have not done so already.
Limited-Time Event Rewards
Next up are limited-time events, which will offer a variety of unique cosmetic rewards and also reward players with free Double XP Tokens for participating. Events will debut throughout Black Ops 7’s six-season run, each featuring its own unique theme and set of challenges that players can complete, or simply earn XP during the event’s runtime to unlock rewards.
Through The Store
The final way that Double XP Tokens can be unlocked in Black Ops 7 is through the in-game Store. Double XP Tokens will occasionally appear as a free gift inside the Store, just as they did in Black Ops 6, so be sure to check every now and then to see if a free gift is available.
Double XP Tokens may also be included with certain Store Bundles, which can be purchased with COD Points or real money. However, as of the time of writing, no Double XP Tokens have appeared in the Black Ops 7 Store just yet.
How to Activate Double XP Tokens in Black Ops 7
Double XP Tokens in Black Ops 7 can be activated the same way they were in Black Ops 6. To activate them, locate your earned tokens in the bottom-right corner of the main menu, pause menu, or launcher menu, and select the option, or press L3 on PlayStation, LS on Xbox, or 3 on PC. From here, choose the token you want to activate.
Once activated, your Double XP Token will grant double XP of the respective XP type. Players can earn 15-minute, 30-minute, 45-minute, and 1-hour Double XP Tokens. Keep in mind that the timer counts down from the moment you activate it, not during in-game time. Therefore, it’s often best to wait until you’re in a match before activating a token to avoid wasting time.
Here is a rundown of what each Double XP Token does:
- Double XP Token: Doubles the amount of regular XP you earn. Regular XP increases your overall career level.
- Double Weapon XP: Doubles the amount of Weapon XP you earn. Weapon XP levels up your currently equipped weapon.
- Double Battle Pass XP: Doubles the amount of Battle Pass XP you earn. Battle Pass XP is used to earn Battle Pass Tokens (Tier Skips) or to automatically unlock Battle Pass rewards if the Auto Spend feature is enabled in the Token Bank.
