World of Warcraft: Classic is getting ready to take players into Northrend again. Another expansion means new dungeons, and every expansion is always just a venue for more exciting and creative content along with general quality of life improvements and essential bug fixes for WoW: Classic.
There are several new dungeons throughout Azeroth that are part of The Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and the following are focused on those located on the new continent of Northrend. That's why the Culling of Stratholme, the new five-player instance located in the Caverns of Time, a zone in old Azeroth, is left out.
15 Utgarde Keep, Level 68
Located in the scenic reaches of Howling Fjord, this isn't only one of the first Northrend instances that most players encounter. It's also the one that gets the most screenshots and could be one of the most dangerous to visit.
Reaching it without a flying mount, which most players don't have yet, means fighting through a hostile Vykrul village.
14 The Nexus, Level 68
The sheltered region at the center of the Borean Tundra is where players can find Coldarra, the home of the Blue Dragonflight and their aspect, Malygos. The enemies in this dungeon change depending on whether your character is Horde or Alliance but everyone is fighting for the dragons.
13 Ajzol-Nerub, Level 70
A smaller dungeon that consists of three bosses, Ajzol-Nerub is tucked away in the center of the barren and windswept reaches of Dragonflight.
The dungeon is part of a larger complex that includes another five-player instance and a raid. The same location also appeared in another game as the site of a great battle.
12 Ahn’Kahet: The Old Kingdom, Level 71
Players who have experienced the old Warcraft real-time strategy games have already visited at least part of this mysterious kingdom. Arthas and his forces lay siege to Ahn'Kahet in one of the Warcraft 3 expansions.
This time, it's just a party of five instead of a whole army, versus five bosses and a vast horde of insects, cultists, and other horrors.
11 Drak’Tharon Keep, Level 72
Of course, there would have to be an ancient troll-themed dungeon in the mix, and that would be Drak'Tharon Keep. Players traveling between Grizzly Hills and Zul'Drak can find its rugged yet majestic gates on the northern side of the border.
10 The Violet Hold, Level 73
Located beneath the floating city of Dalaran, the Violet Hold is a one-room dungeon that hosts several enemies and bosses that the party has to defeat in succession.
Despite the condensed location, this dungeon gives players no less than seven bosses to fight, and that includes a dragon at the end.
9 Halls Of Stone, Level 73
This will probably be the first time most players see Ulduar, but it won't be the last. Halls of Stone is intended to be the introduction to this vast complex which includes another dungeon and the massive raid instance that gives the whole area its name.
8 Gundrak, Level 73
Another instance that was built by the trolls of centuries past, Gundrak is also located in the zone of Zul-Drak. Gundrak recalls old-world dungeons like Sunken Temple and Maradon, with their two separate entrances and an interior puzzle to open the passage to the final boss.
7 Halls Of Lightning, Level 75
After moving up from the Halls of Stone, return to the mountain peaks of Ulduar and challenge the four bosses in the Halls of Lightening.
For those that are keen on Azerothian lore, especially ancient history, this is the dungeon with a Titan Keeper waiting for the successful adventurers at the end.
6 The Oculus, Level 75
Do a good deed and free some wayward dragons from their captivity in the Oculus, then ride them to victory against the dungeon boss. Choices include red, green, or yellow and include different buffs that complement certain classes, whether they're healers, tanks, or damage-per-second (DPS).
