Clash of Clans: Hero Equipment Tier List

Hero Equipments can make your Heroes way more powerful in COC - perfect for Clan Wars and multiplayer battles; here are the best to worst ones.

These little critters bring their unique buffs to the table and help your heroes in different ways. Since leveling up each of them is both costly and time-consuming, you’ll want to focus on upgrading the most effective ones for maximum value. That’s where this guide comes in, as it provides a tier list ranking all Clash of Clans pets from most useful to least useful, along with the best hero-pet combinations for each hero.

Clash of Clans

Tier

Reasoning

Spirit Fox

SS Tier

Best pet in CoC so far due to its invisibility passive, which basically hides your hero and itself for up to 4 seconds. During that time, they cannot be hurt by any direct or indirect projectiles. The ability recharges every 6 seconds.

Sneezy

SS Tier

A late-game pet (unlocks at TH17) that’s worth spending your Dark Elixirs on. It can spawn two Boogers every 10 seconds to take out buildings, but it really shines when your hero dies. Then it goes enraged for 30 seconds, hitting defenses and troops with slightly higher damage than its usual 400 damage and 4,650 hitpoints. It keeps spawning Boogers, though it might pause attacking for a short while.

Diggy

S Tier

Diggy strikes any structures or foot soldiers your hero is obsessed with at the moment. It can stun cannons and other offensive buildings if your hero is after them, and due to its massive HP of 5,000, it can survive in battle. Unlike most Clash of Clans pets, Diggy isn’t loyal to just one hero. After its buddy hero falls, it just follows another, making it very helpful in combat.

Frosty

S Tier

One of those sidekicks you’ll want to keep in your team, as it can slow down defensive towers and buildings locked on your hero. When maxed out, it can drop up to 10 Frostmites (tiny ice balls that can freeze structures) while also hitting the land and flying units with its ice breath for 150 damage per second.

Phoenix

S Tier

Its unique ability is to revive the hero for a short time (up to 8 seconds), which can turn the tide in fast-paced combat. Once transformed from an egg into a phoenix, it also hurts fighters alongside the hero.

Unicorn

A Tier

Works like a healer but isn’t as strong in healing or health at level 10. However, it can heal its linked hero on the ground or in the air (something the healer can’t do). Its low health makes it especially vulnerable to X-Bows, Mortars, and other defensive buildings, but it remains a useful TH14 pet.

Angry Jelly

A Tier

With its help, your hero can fix itself on defensive buildings and take them out before anything else. The good thing is, while its Brainwash ability is active, the Angry Jelly will turn immortal and thus stay on the battlefield longer (even if your hero dies) and damage the land and air mines.

Electro Owl

A Tier

A versatile pet that can beat both air and ground troops and target two units at a time from a 6-tile distance. It can also deal a steady 145 damage per second to both units. However, it’s only suited if you’re on TH14.

Mighty Yak

B Tier

Yak is a situational pick at best. As a ground troop with average damage but high health (5,550 at level 10) and wall-breaking ability, it works best with tanky heroes who can’t hop walls, like the Barbarian King. Using it on other heroes doesn’t do much help.

Poison Lizard

C Tier

This lizard can poison enemies the hero is targeting and slow them down, while also hitting structures, but it isn’t very effective.

L.A.S.S.I

C Tier

Although it can bypass walls and attack targets within 2.5 meters of the hero with 260 damage (at level 10, the maximum at Town Hall 14), it is still a ground troop whose ability isn’t as strong compared to other pets.

Players can only use pets after reaching Town Hall 14 by placing the Pet House in their village. Even then, you’ll initially get only L.A.S.S.I., but more pets become available as you continue upgrading the Pet House.

Best Hero-Pet Combos for Every Clash of Clans Hero

Here are the ideal pets to pair with your heroes in CoC:

  • Depending on your strategy with the Barbarian King, the best pets for him could be either Frosty or Phoenix. Frosty is generally very supportive, freezing X-Bows, Cannons, and other defenses that chip away at his health. But if you want to give him a second life for a few extra seconds, Phoenix is the better choice. Mighty Yak is also worth considering if you’re at TH14 or don’t plan to push after it anytime soon.
  • The Archer Queen can use Sneezy, Diggy, or Frosty. Sneezy’s Boogers can distract air mines from attacking your Queen or the healers linked to her, letting her make a lasting impact. Diggy and Frosty can stop defenses temporarily (including those targeting her), which helps protect her from being knocked out. If you’re still an early-game player, use Electro Owl or Unicorn.
  • For the Minion Prince, Angry Jelly works well because it helps him quickly take out offensive structures, allowing your army and the other hero to perform more effectively in the fight. If you don’t have it, Phoenix can help him respawn after dying.
  • The best pet for the Royal Champion in Clash of Clans is Spirit Fox or Phoenix. Pairing her with the Fox is particularly useful for doing an RC charge, where she can clear part of a base while staying invisible. You must apply an Invisibility Spell, though, when the Fox’s passive ends (likely every 6 seconds) to keep her hidden from enemies. If you don’t have Spirit Fox, you can equip Unicorn for healing while using Invisibility Spells every 4 seconds.
  • Players using the Grand Warden in battle should combine him with Sneezy or Angry Jelly, especially for the Warden Walk strategy. However, beginners can try Frosty or Electric Owl to support him.
