Paint Cages are special containers in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that players will encounter on several of the game's maps. One of those containers can be found on the Sirene map, and some players may struggle to open it. This guide is written with those players in mind, and it explains how to get into the Paint Cage in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Sirene.

While it is not mandatory that players open this, or any other, Paint Cage, these containers hold some valuable rewards, including Tint upgrades, weapons, and Pictos.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 - How to Reach the Paint Cage in Sirene

After stopping at the Dancing Classes Expedition Flag, the first flag on the Sirene map, players should follow the path forward and ascend a small flight of stairs. At the top of those stairs, players should look forward and to their left to find a large opening in the wall. The path beyond that opening leads to a gold thread that players can descend, and they should continue forward, using their grapple to cross a gap, until they reach a platform that they can activate. The map's Paint Cage is to the left of that platform.

As with the game's other Paint Cages, this one is opened by using Free Aim to break its three locks. To use Free Aim, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 players must simply hold LT/L2 and press RT/R2, and here are the positions of the three locks that must be broken:

  1. There is a lock on the pillar directly behind the Paint Cage.
  2. There is a lock on the rubble directly left of the Paint Cage.
  3. Players should walk back towards the stairs that they used to reach the area. Shortly after passing the stairs, players will run into a wall, and the third lock is to the right.

With respect to the reward that players will earn for opening the Paint Cage, the container is replaced with a Level 13 Shield Affinity Pictos when all three locks are broken. Here are the stats and the effect that the Pictos provides:

  • Stats: 118 Speed, 16% Critical Rate
  • Effect: 30% increased damage while having Shields, but receiving damage always removes all Shields.

While the effect granted by the Shield Affinity Pictos can be quite powerful, maintaining it can be difficult. Indeed, players will need to be quite good at dodging and parrying in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 if they hope to consistently receive the Pictos's 30% damage increase.
