Sandfall Interactive has teased future improvements for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which include adding new content and accessibility features, among other things. Despite Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s massive critical and commercial success, the developer wants to keep enhancing the game to further improve the experience while bringing new stuff for players.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is certainly one of the biggest surprises of 2025. While eyes were locked on other major releases this year, like Doom: The Dark Ages or Elden Ring: Nightreign, Clair Obscur slipped under the radar and delivered such an engaging and well-crafted JRPG that it quickly turned into a major hit, selling a staggering number of 3.3 million copies in just 33 days. The game’s development was led by former Ubisoft staff and brought to the table a visually striking third-person title, featuring an engaging turn-based combat system where players must perform some real-time actions like dodging and parrying to gain an advantage in battle. Clair Obscur’s gameplay has left players craving more, and now Sandfall Interactive has good news for them.
'Chances Are Good' Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Writer Comments on Potential DLC
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's writer makes an encouraging remark about the turn-based RPG possibly receiving post-launch content.
Taking to Twitter, Sandfall informed players that the team is exploring a “wide range of future improvements” for its commercially successful Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The developer teased new content and accessibility features, along with a bunch of other stuff it didn’t go into detail about, but said is currently in the works. Notably, Sandfall also mentioned that future additions will include expanded localization options.
Clair Obscur Will Add New Content, Accessibility Features, and Expanded Localization Options
Unfortunately for players, these and other previously mentioned features coming to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 don’t have a release date yet, though Sandfall assures “it’s very much on our radar.” The developer had also promised fans a photo mode for the RPG, as it has been a hot topic among those who wish they could capture some of the game’s beautiful visuals. The news about “new content” likely comes as a surprise to fans, as just about a month ago, Sandfall’s co-founders said they had no plans for future DLC.
While some players may want to see a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sequel in the future, it looks like, for now, Sandfall is focused on improving the game—which is nonetheless good news. Recently, the studio’s COO, Francois Meurisse, explained how Sandfall plans to follow in the footsteps of Half-Life 2 and Ocarina of Time by continuing to work with small teams, because it doesn’t want to compromise “good decisions and creativity” just to speed things up. Players may have to wait a while before seeing Clair Obscur’s future improvements, though it will hopefully be worth the wait.
