Once residents become unhappy with their life in the city, they'll likely pack up their things and go somewhere else entirely. Once they're gone, their properties will automatically be marked as Abandoned.

Abandoned buildings negatively impact neighborhoods by reducing the land value of their immediate area. This means the people living in the vicinity of an abandoned building will have their general happiness reduced, and rent for all properties in the area will go down as well.

To get rid of abandoned buildings, players must use the Bulldoze tool to demolish the affected properties. A new building will be constructed on top of the old one, and new residents will move into it.
