A free update has introduced a brand new playable character to action-RPG Children of Morta. Apan, the Clan Mother, brings an all-new play style, allowing Children of Morta's players to assist their allies or themselves as a magical battle medic.
Apan hails from the far north of Mount Morta, and has journeyed south to join the colorful Bergson family on their quests beneath the mountain. While she can deal powerful damage with her area-of-effect staff attacks and Asva Pulse dash ability, her real strength lies in her medical abilities. Besides boosting all healing potions, Apan can also grant the family shields through items, abilities and her own Rage skill.
Apan's design was actually created by one of the game's original Kickstarter backers, along with his partner. Although she was initially designed as an orphan-type character, they eventually chose to go with a motherly style instead to better suit the rest of the family.
Developed by US studio Dead Mage, and published by 11 Bit Studios, Children of Morta first released for PC back in September 2019. Console releases followed shortly after, with the title coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October, and to the Nintendo Switch in November.
Children of Morta is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
