A new sale being held on the Xbox store is giving fans the chance to pick up more than 60 different games for less than a dollar, spanning a variety of different genres. Microsoft has been no stranger to hosting a wide variety of different sales, offering the chance for gamers to pick up some new titles to try out for cheap. Xbox often features "buy one, get one free" sales on the store, sometimes featuring popular games like Choo-Choo Charles and Ace Combat 7 for a discount. Now, a brand-new sale is focused on cheap games.
Beyond major franchises like Halo and Forza, the Microsoft Store plays host to an expansive array of different indie games from smaller developers. The growth of indie games with digital marketplaces has led many smaller studios to try their hand at game development and share their own creations online. Some indie games have even transcended their small studio status to become some of the biggest names in gaming, like Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, and Hades among others. A new sale is now putting the spotlight on a variety of smaller studios.
'Greed Over Gaming' Xbox Founder Comments on Game Pass and Console Price Hikes
Xbox co-founder Laura Fryer slams Microsoft's recent price hikes on consoles and Game Pass, calling them tone-deaf and greedy.
Xbox officially launched its new "99 Cents Sale" earlier this week, with more than 60 different games discounted to less than a dollar. The list includes a variety of different games from smaller indie studios, including several RPGs, simulations, and racing games in the mix. The selection of games notably does lack any big-name draws for the sale, with the discounts largely focused on making some smaller studios' games more readily accessible for fans. Xbox's 99 Cents Sale is currently scheduled to run through October 22.
