Even though the second season hasn't been released, fans have been content with reading the manga, which seems to be reaching a crucial juncture.
Chainsaw Man Editor Hints That The Manga Might Be Ending Soon
On February 4th, 2026, the Chainsaw Man manga released its 23rd volume in Japan. The volume features Pochita in his Black Chainsaw Man form. Since the volume has just been released in Japan, it will not be available in the United States for a long time. While the cover is certainly amazing, the biggest talking point is Shihei Lin's comment.
For the uninitiated, Shihei Lin is the editor of Chainsaw Man, and he said that the manga is moving to its core point. The terminology is not clear, but it seems that the manga is heading towards a critical juncture or entering the final stretch, meaning the story could end soon. There might be clarification from the editor in the future, but for now, fans will have to stick with the vague terminology.
As fans already know, Chainsaw Man Part 1 finished a long time ago, and currently, the manga is serializing its second, which has received mixed reviews from readers. Some believe that Tatsuki Fujimoto is being rushed by the higher-ups at Shonen Jump, which is why the quality has been compromised to a certain extent. However, there is another bunch that strongly believes that Chainsaw Man has retained its quality.
Chainsaw Man Manga Is Selling Well
Recently, the Chainsaw Man manga hit a major milestone, as it has sold 35 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga of all time. It shows that the manga is performing well. As previously stated, Chainsaw Man hasn't released a new season yet. But the series has already announced a sequel, which will be focused on the Assassins arc. It will be produced by MAPPA, so the adaptation is bound to be outstanding. The studio has already cemented itself as one of the best in the business, and anything it touches turns into gold.

Presently, a release date has not been shared, but there is a genuine possibility that the anime will premiere in late 2026 or early 2027. Another thing worth mentioning is that MAPPA hasn't revealed whether the Assassins arc will be adapted into a movie or regular television series. Given the recent success of the Reze movie, the studio may be tempted to release another movie instead of reverting to the old format.
MAPPA Is Focused On Other Projects
Currently, two projects produced by MAPPA are airing as part of the Winter 2026 season. One of them is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, while the other is Hell's Paradise Season 2. Fans have been waiting for years to see the next season of the anime. They had high expectations from the anime, and it is safe to say that MAPPA delivered. The studio once again worked its magic to create something amazing that will be remembered by viewers for years to come. The new season of Jujutsu Kaisen is focused on the Culling Game arc. As the name suggests, the arc is centered around the Culling Game, a heinous act of jujutsu terrorism committed by Kenjaku.
JJK Season 3 Is Covering The Culling Game Arc
After sealing away Gojo Satoru in Shibuya, Kenjaku took a massive leap towards his goal. As revealed by Tengen, Kenjaku has been trying to evolve humanity for centuries but has failed multiple times for one reason or another. This time, he has successfully taken out the biggest thorn in his side. Now all he needs to do is go after Tengen and wait for the Culling game to unfold. Thankfully, Choso and Yuko Tsukumo are protecting him. Due to this reason, the job of participating in the Culling Game has been delegated to Itadori Yuji, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, Megumi Fushiguro, and Kinji Hakari.
Itadori Yuji Needs To Convince Kinji Hakari
Currently, Itadori Yuji is trying to recruit Kinji Hakari, a third-year student at Jujutsu High, who was suspended because of his rebellious nature. It won't be an easy task to convince Kinji Hakari because he is rather stubborn. However, Yuji is hard-headed himself, so he won't stop trying. Once Kinji Hakari joins the team, they will be heading to one of the colonies that will be affected by the Culling Game. Itadori Yuji has three goals that he needs to achieve:
- Save Tsukimi from a cruel fate
- Free Gojo Satoru from the Prison Realm
- Stop the forcible evolution of humanity via the Culling Game

All tasks are incredibly difficult, especially since there will be a lot of sorcerers and cursed spirits who will be trying to achieve their own goals. These fighters will do their best to impede Itadori Yuji and his companions.

While there is no denying that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is phenomenal, fans have one problem with the anime—the episode count. It has been confirmed that the new season will have just 12 episodes, but there is a very good reason for that. The third season has been divided into two parts, and presently, the first part is airing. So, it is safe to say that the entirety of the Culling Game might not be covered in the first installment, meaning it will be completed in the next part. As previously stated, the decision has not gone down well with a lot of audience members, but they might overlook it because of the production's insanely high quality.
Hell's Paradise Season 2 is also airing in January 2026, which has been produced by MAPPA. Like JJK, the new season took several years to be released. The updates about the second season were shared in 2026, which sent fans into a wave of ecstasy. So far, Hell's Paradise Season 2 has performed well, scoring an impressive 8.19 on MyAnimeList. However, the new season is still far from over, and there's every possibility of the ratings going up rather than down.
