The Turtle Race (aka the Tumultuous Turtle Touchdown) is a mini-game in Chained Echoes with simple rules: bet on the racer that will win and earn chips. But the catch is that the Festivities' employee replaces the fastest turtle after each match, which confuses most players.
Don’t worry, though. This guide reveals the secret to spotting the speediest racer and becoming an invincible gambler with simplified steps.
How to Win the Tumultuous Turtle Touchdown
To win every Turtle Race, press the interact button near each turtle and bet on the one that says, “TURTLE!”
The other racers, the ones that say "Tu… rr… t… l… e…," will lose. An unknown Escanyan spoils the secret to winning the Turtle Race in exchange for money. But players don’t need to talk to him. Instead, they can listen to the turtles before each match and put their chips on the confident one.
What Is the Prize for Winning the Turtle Race?
Players pay 10 chips as the Turtle Race’s entrance fee. But the prize for betting on the winning racer is 30 chips, a 20-chip profit on each successful gamble. Old-school JRPG fans can exchange the earned chips for weapons, gears, and items in the northern part of the plaza—where a redhead girl is awaiting them. Buying all the prizes at the Festivities requires 120 chips.
Here’s a list of items that players may earn.

How to Play the Turtle Race in Chained Echoes
During Ser Victor’s prologue, players must follow Heinlein, the goat-looking assistant, into the Festival’s backstage. That is where they get to play mini-games like the Turtle Race. Note that the games have entrance fees, and players must pay Heinlein another visit if they run out of chips. (He gives away 50 free chips every time players interact with him.)
Lucky for beginner Chained Echo players, the NPCs in the area give away practical tips on winning the games. But don’t get caught up in the gambles like the Turtle Race. There is a plot twist at the end that might disappoint players who exploit the race to stack up chips.
Chained Echoes is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
