Cyberpunk 2077 recently received another great update with 2.3, bringing more customization and cars to Night City. Nearly five years later, Cyberpunk 2077 has transformed into a strong and immersive dystopian RPG, and in the world of Night City, getting around in a cool vehicle is essential.

In the 2.3 update, Cyberpunk 2077 adds four brand-new vehicles to the mix, with one of them being the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru. This modded sports car is a slick-looking powerhouse of a vehicle, and while it was a great surprise to many Cyberpunk 2077 fans, CD Projekt Red left hints in a recent comic series, and a lot of players missed it.

Cyberpunk 2077's brand-new 2.3 update introduces a useful mechanic that may be well worth experimenting with in The Witcher 4.

CD Projekt Red Planted the Seed for the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru in Cyberpunk 2077: Kickdown

  • The first issue of Kickdown came out in July 2024.

Kickdown follows the story of Mint, the daughter of legendary street racer Jeremy Taylor. With the focus on street racing, vehicles are clearly the centerpiece of the story, and it made way for the Semimaru. Many Cyberpunk 2077 fans looked over this comic series, and it left CD Projekt Red design director Paweł Sasko a little disappointed. In the most recent REDstream that went over 2.3's details, Sasko stated, "So we go to the last page of that comic book, there is actually a Yaiba Semimaru picture that we included here already some time ago just to give you a little of a foreshadowing and see how much you're paying attention to what we are doing in various media."

He expected some discussion of the Semimaru on Reddit leading up to the 2.3 launch, but after not seeing such discourse, Sasko said, "Guys, you need to really pay more attention, because we're doing a lot of stuff that you are missing." Cyberpunk 2077 teasing 2.3 is obvious looking back, but hindsight is 20/20. Sasko feeling let down by the online community is understandable, but this shouldn't keep CD Projekt Red from continuing to drop such hints, especially with Project Orion on the horizon.

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 update also adds an AutoDrive feature to the game.

  • Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, codenamed Project Orion, has officially entered pre-production.

It will probably be a while before Cyberpunk 2077's sequel is ready. Realistically, Project Orion may not even launch until 2030 or later, but only time will tell. Until then, CD Projekt Red could have years of teaser potential within the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Whether it's in the game, a new comic book series, or even Edgerunners 2, fans missing the Semimaru hint in the Kickdown comics shouldn't deter developers from continuing this method.

Now that Sasko has mentioned the missed hint, fans may be more prepared to dissect future trailers and spin-off stories. While the game is years away, there are high hopes for Project Orion, so CD Projekt Red will hopefully continue to leave small breadcrumbs that lead to the sequel's plot details or characters.

Guys, you need to really pay more attention, because we're doing a lot of stuff that you are missing.

CD Projekt Red Has its Hands Full After Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 Update

  • The Witcher 4 is next in line before Project Orion.

Right now, CD Projekt Red has yet to announce a release target for The WItcher 4, but a 2027 or 2028 window seems the most likely, especially with there already being speculation about the next generation of consoles potentially arriving around that time. Between The Witcher 4 and Project Orion, it's a pleasant surprise that CD Projekt Red still sees value in updating Cyberpunk 2077. Only time will tell, but there could be even more updates on the horizon, and if so, developers will hopefully continue to leave small, but clever, hints that point toward the future.
