With everything from phase 5 of the MCU now in full swing, it's time to look forward to one of the franchise's next big movies, Captain America: Brave New World. This movie is scheduled to release in the summer of 2025, after the writers and actors' strike pushed back the feature more than the studio desired. However, things are still going full steam ahead with the movie, and some lucky fans even got to see some footage at CinemaCon 2024.
Despite this footage being talked about online, not much is known about the plot of this movie. Everyone knows that this is the fourth movie in the Captain America series, only this time it will feature Sam Wilson in the role instead of Steve Rogers. So, who else can fans expect to see?
7 Isaiah Bradley (Played By Carl Lumbly)
The Last Black Man To Receive The Super Soldier Serum
Isaiah Bradley was introduced to the MCU in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ show, as a man who once took the super soldier serum to help fight America's wars while the first Cap was still frozen in the ice. He then goes on to explain that he was punished as more of a criminal rather than celebrated as a hero, all because of the color of his skin. As such, he has a poignant role in helping Sam Wilson decide whether to accept the shield.
Regarding Captain America: Brave New World, it is unclear what kind of role Bradley will play. He will likely be there to offer the new Captain America some more wisdom on his next journey, although some footage from CinemaCon seems to suggest that Isaiah Bradley is working as a sleeper agent for an unknown threat.
6 Betty Ross (Played By Liv Tyler)
Bruce Banner's Ex Is Along For The Ride
The last time fans saw Betty Ross in the MCU was all the way back in 2008 in The Incredible Hulk. In that film, she acted as Bruce Banner's love interest, while still being the daughter of his greatest enemy, Thunderbolt Ross. Since this version of Hulk featured Ed Norton in the role rather than Mark Ruffalo, many fans have speculated that the series would continue to ignore this entry going forward. However, that doesn't look likely now that Betty Ross is returning.
Marvel: 25 Strongest Hulks In The Comics, Ranked
While there are several different forms of Hulk, there are some that are stronger than others, and this list shows the strongest thus far.
Captain America: Brave New World is being described as another political thriller, similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With that in mind, it is difficult to see where a scientist like Betty fits in. Her father is also in the movie, so she may just be there to provide his character with some motivation. Although, Betty Ross does become the Red She-Hulk in the comics, so perhaps this story will be explored as it ties in heavily with the super soldier serum.
5 Sabra (Played By Shira Haas)
Adding Another Superhero To The Franchise
To many fans who do not read the comics, the name Sabra probably doesn't mean much. Fortunately, this character is about to be thrust into the spotlight, as the Israeli heroine is about to make an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World. In the comics, Sabra is a mutant with the powers of super-speed, super-strength, and durability. Basically, she has all the powers of someone who has taken the super soldier serum, but her powers are innate instead.
Such a character poses a mystery for the upcoming movie. Sabra has often worked as a government agent in the comics, so she is likely to play this role in the film. However, her mutant heritage may put her at odds with some of the heroes, as mutants are yet to be established in the MCU.
4 Joaquin Torres (Played By Danny Ramirez)
Captain America's New Sidekick
Before Sam Wilson put on the Captain America costume after Steve Rogers retired, he served for many years as his ally in the guise of a hero called Falcon. It seems that this tradition is going to continue in Captain America: Brave New World, as Joaquin Torres is returning to the MCU to act as the new Falcon.
Viewers got to see Torres already, as he appeared briefly in Falcon and the Winter Soldier to serve as tech service for Sam Wilson after Red Wing is destroyed. Now that the Falcon mantle has been left open, Joaquin Torres will be suiting up and assisting the new Captain America as his newest ally in a bird costume.
3 The Leader (Played By Tim Blake Nelson)
The Hulk's Nemesis Is Finally Making His Debut
It may come as a shock, but The Leader has been teased in the MCU before. In The Incredible Hulk, Samuel Sterns tries to help Bruce Banner find a cure, but he is killed when knocked into a vat of chemicals by Abomination. This attack did not in fact kill Sterns, as he is set to finally return as the villainous character The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World. In the comics, The Leader is a Hulk villain whose exposure to gamma radiation makes him extremely intelligent, instead of extremely strong like his nemesis.
Marvel: 10 Smartest Hulks, Ranked
In Marvel Comics, the Hulk isn't always depicted as an uncontrollable beast. Some versions of the Hulk are actually quite smart.
With his origin already established in the series, it is likely that The Leader has been working on his evil schemes for years, and Captain America will need to put an end to his plans. The Leader may seem like he is the main villain in this movie, but it is easy to find someone else in the cast who is pulling strings behind the scenes.
2 Thunderbolt Ross (Played By Harrison Ford)
The President With A Secret Alter-Ego
After the sad passing of William Hurt, the MCU needed someone else to come in and fill his shoes as the Hulk villain Thunderbolt Ross. Luckily, Harrison Ford agreed to take on the role in Captain America: Brave New World, and he will be playing the character now that he has risen to the role of President of the USA.
Ross' inclusion is interesting, as he and Sam Wilson already share some animosity after Ross was one of the driving forces behind the acts that led to the superhuman registration act. However, Thunderbolt Ross has a secret alter-ego that turns him into the villainous Red Hulk. With this movie promising intrigue, and McDonalds toys already spoiling this reveal, it is likely that Thunderbolt Ross will be the secret main villain in the movie.
1 Sam Wilson (Played By Anthony Mackie)
The Titular Hero
It would be a great surprise to everyone if the titular Captain America did not appear in the movie Captain America: Brave New World. However, anyone who has been keeping up to date with the MCU will know that the fourth entry in the series will feature Sam Wilson as the hero, and not Steve Rogers. Falcon and the Winter Soldier has already shown some of the struggles that Sam is facing now that he is carrying the shield, so hopefully the movie continues to explore these themes.
The footage shown at CinemaCon revealed that Captain America has been called into action by Thunderbolt Ross to restart The Avengers. With Ross's villainous tendencies already in play, it is likely that this mission is going to be a double-cross. Though, reassembling The Avengers may mean that fans get to see some more unexpected superheroes in this movie.
