While Devil May Cry 5's narrative is pretty great in its own right, it hinges on the player's familiarity with the series and doesn't take itself too seriously. Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 3's story is more intimate and feels rather emotional as a result.

Players will be itching to get their hands on Vergil, only to be surprised by the wave of emotions that they experience during this fateful encounter. It's just one of the many ways that Dante's Awakening impresses players with a story that had no business being so compelling.

The Resident Evil games are known for featuring plotlines that can get rather convoluted in no time. While the same can be said for Code: Veronica, the narrative's adult themes and engrossing setup make it great to follow the adventures of the Redfield siblings during this harrowing adventure.

Players should make it a point to get their hands on Code: Veronica X, since this version of the game fleshes out the story with more cutscenes. Either way, the tense survival horror gameplay and some great writing ensure that players will be invested in one of the best Resident Evil games ever made.

The Ace Attorney series is one of the best detective games players can get their hands on, taking on the structure of a visual novel with enough gameplay elements to keep fans engaged. The first two games are fun in their own right, but the final title of the original trilogy shows just how much Shu Takumi learned from his endeavors in previous games.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Press Image 1

The Resident Evil series had fallen into a bit of a slump before the seventh mainline entry was introduced. In a way, the Silent Hill franchise should be thanked for this, since P.T.'S viral nature convinced Capcom to release a soft reboot with a focus on first-person combat.

By not tying itself to the complicated lore of previous titles, Biohazard stands on its own two feet as one of the best Resident Evil games ever made. The well-structured narrative and the overbearing threat of the Baker family ensure that Ethan will be on his toes every step of the way as he tries to rescue his wife by any means necessary.

While the first Apollo Justice game and Dual Destinies have some narrative pitfalls that fans couldn't get over, Spirit of Justice was a huge step in the right direction. It gave Apollo the character development he so desperately needed, with the kingdom of Khura'in serving as a tantalizing setting to tell one of the best stories in an Ace Attorney game.

Players love how the spiritual setting elevates the game's storytelling to new heights. With high stakes and a wealth of well-written cases, it's easy to see why fans can't get enough of Spirit of Justice.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is an excellent collection of two beloved Ace Attorney games that hadn't witnessed a release in the West for a while. This package came in the nick of time, letting players enjoy these unique entries and their imaginative cases.

While the first game is pretty decent in its own right, the second game does a great job of tying together all narrative threats while letting players enjoy one of the greatest entries in the series. Each case is a blast to solve as players are treated to some satisfactory narrative moments, with the final Objection in the second game sending goosebumps down the player's spine as they uncover a massive conspiracy where many innocents were framed.

Shu Mikami has developed some of the best story-driven games for Capcom, and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective might just be his magnum opus. Players control the actions of several spirits and use their powers to manipulate objects in the environment.

Sissel is an engaging protagonist who has lost his memories and wants to figure out the reasons for his demise. Small hints are dropped throughout the story about the truth lurking in the background, culminating in an incredible plot twist that cements Ghost Trick as arguably the best story-driven Capcom game of all time.
