  • This collection follows the trend of Capcom reviving older fighting games, catering to fans' desires for classic gameplay experiences.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has been announced, bringing 8 more classic fighting games together, including both Power Stone games from the Sega Dreamcast. Over the past couple of years, Capcom has continued to bring many of its older fighting games back for modern audiences, many of which were thought to have been lost to time.

Following the release of Capcom Fighting Collection in 2022, the company surprised everyone earlier this year when it announced a complete Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, finally making all 6 classic titles available once again. These beloved games have largely been impossible to obtain due to the fact that they're largely locked on older consoles and online prices to acquire a physical copy can be exorbitant. In fact, the only real way most people could easily acquire these games was through purchasing an arcade cabinet from Arcade1Up, though the entry price was likely to be a barrier for many. Keeping with the recent theme, Capcom had another surprising reveal for fans by announcing another fighting game collection, including some highly requested titles.

During Nintendo's Indie and Partner Direct Showcases today, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was officially revealed. The latest collection packages 8 games, ranging from Capcom's extensive history, and also includes two highly requested Dreamcast titles in Power Stone and Power Stone 2. The collection also includes two Capcom vs SNK titles, Street Fighter Alpha 3, as well as some lesser publicized titles like Plasma Sword, Capcom Fighting Evolution, as well as the fan favorite Project Justice.

Alongside the game reveals for Capcom's second fighting game collection, the trailer also confirmed that each of the eight games would come with online play and full rollback netcode similar to new features added into the first Capcom Fighting Collection. Players will be able to select from Casual and Ranked matches, full Lobby matches, and high score leaderboards. The collection also comes with options like quick saving, one-button specials, UI filter options, and a training mode that shows off character hurt boxes.

The announcement follows suit of another recent Capcom announcement that happened at EVO 2024. As part of the fighting game event, Capcom shadow launched SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos for modern consoles, a 2003 game that launched within the PS2 and Xbox era of consoles. This new version added Rollback netcode from Code Mystics, as well as other bonuses like an in-game gallery with character renders and other artwork.
