Summary

  • Leaks surrounding a canceled Transformers game codenamed Project Goliath have surfaced online.
  • Reportedly in development at Skydance Interactive, Project Goliath was inspired by the classic G1 Transformers and Michael Bay movies.
  • The news of Project Goliath's cancelation comes shortly after Transformers: Reactivate was shelved by developer Splash Damage in early 2025.

Another Transformers video game project has reportedly been shelved, with recent leaks offering a glimpse at what it might have looked like. Dubbed Project Goliath, this now-canceled Transformers game was never officially announced, but details about it have surfaced online by way of concept art and development details shared by multiple sources.

The cancelation of Project Goliath comes on the heels of a disappointing blow for Transformers fans. Just earlier this year, developer Splash Damage announced it had canceled Transformers: Reactivate, a multiplayer game revealed by the studio in December 2022. Transformers fans were quite disappointed with the decision, since the franchise hasn't received a major game adaptation since 2015's Transformers: Devastation. Unfortunately, the bad news clearly didn't end with Transformers: Reactivate.

Transformers fan website Tformers recently shared some new leaks alleging that developer Skydance Interactive was working on a now-canceled Transformers game codenamed Project Goliath. The leaked materials include concept art and character models attributed to artist Adam Hartley, and indicate inspiration from both the classic G1 Transformers aesthetic and the hyperrealistic style seen in the Michael Bay films. In particular, Bumblebee's design in Project Goliath appears to evoke that of the 2023 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film, showing the fan-favorite Autobot transforming into a dune buggy as well.

Canceled Transformers Game Project Goliath May Have Taken a Page from Rise of the Beasts' Playbook

The leaked Project Goliath concept art also features Transformers franchise headliner Optimus Prime and includes several designs for human exo-suits, which seem to echo the final act of Rise of the Beasts where a human protagonist fuses with a Transformer. Going off this detail, Project Goliath might have featured Transformer combat and human-assisted gameplay via powered armor. Unfortunately, since Project Goliath was never formally announced, it's unclear how far along the game was in development or what its core gameplay mechanics would have involved. Given the scale and detail of the leaked art, though, Project Goliath was likely beyond the conceptual stage, making its cancelation all the more disappointing.

These back-to-back Transformers game cancelations mark a troubling pattern for a franchise that's been struggling to re-establish its presence in the gaming scene. Despite Hasbro's stated intentions to reinvest in game development, Transformers fans have yet to witness concrete results, and the purported loss of Project Goliath is yet another letdown in a series of dashed hopes. As for Skydance Interactive, the studio last released the VR title Behemoth in 2024 and is currently working on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which is slated for launch later this year.
