Callisto Protocol publisher Krafton and developer Striking Distance Studios have released the PC hardware requirements for the game's Max and Ultra specs. Just a week ago, the Twitter account of Callisto Protocol revealed the Minimum and Recommended settings for the PC version of the game. Now the last two preset requirements have been unveiled just ahead of the game's launch.
Directed by the Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield, Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game that shares a lot in common with its spiritual predecessors in the Dead Space series. Callisto Protocol is set in a futuristic universe, where the players step in the shoes of an inmate Jacob Lee at a prison on the moon Callisto. Lee has to fight against inmates and prison staff that have contracted a disease that turns them into mutated monsters that run amok in Black Iron Prison.
Callisto Protocol is about to be released for both current and previous-generation consoles as well as PC. While console gamers won't have to worry about their setup too much, PC gamers are glad to hear that all the hardware recommendations and requirements are now out. The Max settings will work best if the computer has at least an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-9700K, minimum of 16 gigabytes of RAM, and AMD Radeon RX 6700XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070.
For Callisto Protocol's Ultra settings with ray-tracing, players should expect to have a top-notch system with the likes of AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or Intel Core i9-9900K, 16 GB of RAM, and AMD Radeon RX 6900XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. Both setups, as well as the previously released Recommended specs, require Windows 10/11 and 75 gigabytes of free space, preferably on an SSD. Unfortunately, the tweets don't reveal what resolution or frame rate the game is expected to run on each of these setups.
To refresh the memory about Callisto Protocol's minimum specs, the developers suggested that to play the game one should have a computer with at least Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580. While the game runs on DirectX 11, support for DirectX 12 is recommended. The same goes for the storage medium and RAM. While the game is certainly playable from an HDD and with 8 gigabytes of RAM, SDD and 16 GB are recommended. Windows 10 or 11 are a must.
The Callisto Protocol releases on December 2, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
