Summary

  • Call of Duty: World at War and Infinite Warfare are now tagged as "Included with Game Pass" on the Microsoft Store.
  • An official announcement surrounding their release on Xbox Game Pass has yet to be made.
  • Previous rumors have also indicated that other classic Call of Duty titles will also be added to the service.

Two classic Call of Duty titles may soon be added to Microsoft's lucrative Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Both Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare have now appeared on the Windows Store with the tag "Included with Game Pass," suggesting that the two games, originally released in 2008 and 2016, respectively, could be making their way to the service in the near future.

In 2023, Microsoft completed its history-making acquisition of Call of Duty publisher Activision-Blizzard. The $69 billion deal means that all of Activision-Blizzard's IPs, such as Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, Crash Bandicoot, and more, now fall under the Microsoft umbrella. While many of these titles, including Diablo 4, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have all made their way to Xbox Game Pass, there are still plenty of Activision titles yet to debut on the service. Currently, there are two recent Call of Duty titles available on Game Pass, but evidence continues to mount that even more may be added in the future.

World at War and Infinite Warfare Could Be Coming to Xbox Game Pass

Ever since Microsoft's acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, rumors surrounding classic Call of Duty titles on Xbox Game Pass have been rampant. Now it appears as though there is further evidence that older titles may make their way to the service as XboxEra recently noticed that both Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are on the Windows Store with the tag, "Included with Game Pass." While there has yet to be any official announcement from Microsoft or Activision regarding these two titles coming to Game Pass, it certainly seems to be more than just a mistake when past rumors and evidence are also taken into account.

Back in December, many Call of Duty fans convinced themselves that an Xbox Game Pass announcement was imminent, as various classic titles, including Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, suddenly appeared on the Microsoft Store for PC. While there was no evidence of an Xbox Game Pass release at the time, many found it hard to believe that there weren't other intentions when the titles appeared on the Microsoft Store. Although unconfirmed, it seems highly likely that older Call of Duty titles will be coming to the service in the future, but the real question is when and which games will be added first.

In the meantime, some Xbox Game Pass subscribers do have some new benefits to make the most of in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. After previously being exclusive to PlayStation Plus, Activision has now added a special Combat Pack for Black Ops 6 and Warzone to Xbox Game Pass. Those subscribed to the service's Ultimate tier or to the PC version of Game Pass can redeem the Pack at no additional cost. It includes two operator skins, three weapon blueprints, and various other cosmetic items and in-game consumables, such as double XP tokens.
