Rumors have been swirling for months that the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale map is due for some significant changes. Nothing official has been announced to date, but the latest rumors suggest that radical changes are coming as part of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5.
If the Warzone Season 4 Battle Pass is any indication, Season 5 will start in early August. And according to sources speaking to VGC, Season 5 will bring with it some big changes to the map. As part of Activision's effort to align Warzone with Call of Duty 2020, the game will see a number of Black Ops-themed changes. It will also see Stadium open up for players to explore the interior, and the addition of an Apex Legends-style "loot-filled train" that will move around the map.
All of this has been previously leaked by dataminers, from Stadium opening up to the loot train. Considering this, it does seem more likely than not that this content is indeed coming with the big Warzone Season 5 update that's on the horizon. However, it's still possible that Activision's plans will change, or that this information is incorrect or being misinterpreted in some way. So even though there's a lot of evidence in support of Stadium opening up and the loot train coming, fans should still take all of this with a grain of salt.
After all, previous rumors about Call of Duty: Warzone map changes haven't exactly panned out. Before everyone was focused on Stadium opening up, they were convinced that Dam would be destroyed as part of Warzone Season 3 or 4. However, both of those seasons arrived without any major changes to the battle royale map. So it's understandable if some Warzone fans are hesitant to get their hopes up about the loot train or Stadium opening.
In the meantime, some Warzone fans may be wondering exactly what kind of Black Ops content is making its way to the game, but unfortunately, has yet to be revealed. However, dataminers have found files for the RC-XD killstreak in Warzone, and the game appears to be currently hinting at the debut of Black Ops character Frank Woods. Whether or not any of that comes to pass remains to be seen, but fans should find out within the next couple of months or so.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
