Big changes are on the horizon for Call of Duty: Warzone. Not only is a sequel to Warzone slated to launch later this year, a mobile version is in the works that will eventually let players take the action on the go. While they wait for those to come, fans continue to play the original game, but that doesn't mean there aren’t some things about Warzone that are leaving some of them annoyed.
Despite the popularity of Activision’s hit battle royale two years in, fans haven’t been shy about voicing their frustrations with the game, especially recently. From the perceived changes made to time-to-kill in Season 4 to an assortment of bugs to a seeming increase in cheaters, it’s clear that Warzone’s live-service nature continues to leave it prone to new problems. Adding to those problems was Season 4 Reloaded’s removal of the Plunder mode from the game, a decision that has not sat well with fans.
Since the game launched, Plunder has offered players a break from the chaos of the main battle royale mode by making the key objective collecting the most money instead of being the last player standing. The mode also removes permadeath from the equation, which can make it a more enticing option for gamers who find Call of Duty: Warzone’s standard gameplay loop a little too hectic. For some, it’s even the main mode they like to play, so it’s understandable that fans, like Reddit user eightyfps, are sharing their disappointment with Plunder’s removal for Season 4 Reloaded.
Eightyfps stated that they hate when they get home from work and start up Warzone only to find Plunder missing. They stressed how “there are people who just want to chill and relax,” a sentiment that was echoed by other players who want Activision and Raven Software to bring the mode back right away. It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Plunder has been removed from the game, so it seems a given that it will return at some point, most likely sooner than later.
That being said, it still stinks for the fans who come to Warzone primarily for the more casual experience Plunder offers. Plunder is still considered a limited-time mode, and thus susceptible to being pulled from rotation in order to give newer LTMs some time in the spotlight. However, this latest removal has served to further fuel the calls for Plunder to be made into a permanent mode. Raven hasn’t officially responded to these calls, however, but with any luck, it’s listening and will be able to give the fans what they want before long.
