Activision has given fans a sneak peek at the next Call of Duty: Warzone map, which is now confirmed to be called Area 99. Details surrounding the upcoming map are sparse, but the studio has announced that a full reveal for Call of Duty: Warzone's Area 99 map will take place at COD Next on August 28.

Following the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 earlier this year, the upcoming COD Next event is set to showcase plenty of details surrounding the upcoming shooter and its integration with Call of Duty: Warzone. According to Activision, developers from both Treyarch Studios and Raven Software will be present for the event to provide a deep dive into the game's new omnidirectional movement system, provide a full reveal of Black Ops 6's second Zombies map, and even give fans a detailed look at the newly revealed Warzone map known as Area 99.

Call of Duty Update Adds New Bundle Based on The Crow

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded introduces a new operator bundle based on the new The Crow movie.

On August 22, the official Call of Duty Instagram account gave players a glimpse at the next Warzone map, Area 99. Although there's only one official image of the map so far, Activision also confirmed that live gameplay of Area 99 will be premiered at COD Next, as well as a deep dive into the map's new features with Raven Software. While rumors continue to circulate about Verdansk's return to Warzone, Area 99 looks set to make its debut before the return of the fan-favorite map.

Area 99 Confirmed As Next Call of Duty: Warzone Map

Although Activision is yet to confirm whether or not Area 99 will be a brand-new battle royale map for Warzone or a smaller Resurgence map similar to the likes of Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep, prominent Call of Duty leaker and insider TheGhostOfHope took to Twitter shortly after Area 99's reveal and claimed that it will be a new Resurgence map and not a large-scale battle royale map. The leaker also noted that Urzikstan will remain in rotation with season one of Black Ops 6 but will feature some new quality-of-life updates to keep the map feeling fresh.

While die-hard Warzone players will need to wait until later this year to go hands-on with the new Resurgence map, multiplayer fans will be able to jump into the first Black Ops 6 beta weekend on August 30 and check out the game's new omnidirectional movement system, maps, weapons, and much more. Players who pre-order will be able to jump in on the very first weekend, but for those who would rather test out the new shooter before pre-ordering, an open beta will take place from September 6.
